“..Do you believe heaven is real? Well, according to Colton Burpo and Akiane Kramarik it is! A child art prodigy, Akiane began creating extraordinary, lifelike paintings of Jesus at a very young age. One of her most significant artworks is “Prince of Peace,” an exquisite painting she created when she was just 8 years old. This masterpiece was identified by Colton Burpo as the Real Face of Jesus that he recognized from his heavenly experiences – told in a story that has reverberated around the world, thanks to the bestselling book and subsequent movie, Heaven is for Real.

Deep Thought: Did you know “Yeshua” was “mentioned” in the “Torah”-“Old Testament”?

Jesus in the Old Testament

Jesus’ References to Old Testament Scriptures by Rich Robinson | May 16, 2017 jewsforjesus.org
“..his article lists many references to the Old Testament found on the lips of Jesus in the Gospels. They have been organized by the three divisions of the Old Testament: Torah (Five Books of Moses), Prophets (or Nevi’im), and Writings (or Ketuvim)…

The two greatest commandments

In the next instance, Jesus replies to an inquiry by citing the two greatest of all the 613 commandments of the Torah. Why are they the greatest? Because all the others can be placed under one or the other of these. Note that while the Torah has “all your might,” in Matthew Jesus says “all your mind.” Variations like that were common (the Greek translation of the Torah has “all your strength”) and all the more in verbal conversation. Perhaps Jesus wanted his inquirer to think more deeply about things!

And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:37–39, cf. Mark 12:28-34)..

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. (Deuteronomy 6:5, cf. Leviticus 19:18)..”..

Who Was Melchizedek and Why Was He So Important? Chara Donahue ibelieve.com
“Genesis introduces Melchizedek – a “priest of God most High,” as he blesses Abram. He is mentioned again in Psalms, but we aren’t alerted to how much attention we should give him until we see his name again in the book of Hebrews. For as much mention the author of Hebrews gives to Melchizedek we know it is worth our time to discover who he is and what he was about. Each word of the Bible should be held with reverence because we know each one was inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 110: is talking about Jesus, “’You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.’” The Matthew Henry Concise Commentary said this about the Psalm:

“[Jesus] is the Priest of the order of Melchizedek, which was before that of Aaron, and on many accounts superior to it, and a more lively representation of Christ’s priesthood.”

So who is this man who was an imperfect foreshadow to Jesus and why should we care?..”

Tiberias

Tiberias (Tveriah) – Israel – Chabad.org

“..Tiberias sits off the pebbly beaches of the Kinneret Sea.

Built along the shore of the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee), near seventeen natural hot springs, the northern Israeli city of Tiberias is known as the “City of Water.” It is considered one of the four “Holy Cities” in Israel.

Some 2,000 years ago, Tiberias was the center of Jewish study and the last seat of the Sanhedrin (Supreme Court of Jewish law). After enduring constant wars throughout the Middle Ages, the city was revived by an influx of kabbalists in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The city’s major attractions are the Kinneret, its natural hot springs and the graves of many historical luminaries…”

Sea of Galilee in Israel

The Sea of Galilee is also known in the Bible as the Sea of Gennesaret, Sea of Tiberias, and Sea of Kinnereth. The Sea of Galilee isn’t really a “sea” per se – it is actually a freshwater lake fed by nearby mountains and springs, which combine at the head of the Jordan River to the north. The Jordan River then passes through the lake, which is about 13 miles long and 8 miles wide. The Sea of Galilee is 686 feet below sea level, making it the lowest freshwater lake in the world.

The landscape around the Sea of Galilee is unique. To the east and west, the ground rises steeply from the shore to fertile plateaus above. The black basalt boulders that cover the hillsides are typical of a landscape that was once volcanic. From the southern shore, you can see the twin peaks of Mount Canaan to the north, with the snow-covered Mount Hermon way beyond in the distance. From the west, you can see the small white houses of Ein Gev over on the eastern shore. Beyond Ein Gev rises a hill that was the site of the Hellenistic town, Hippos. From the east, you can see Magdala Bay on the northwestern shore, which lies just below biblical Tabgha and Capernaum.

The land surrounding the Sea of Galilee today appears rather quiet and barren. However, history tells us that this wasn’t the case during the time of Jesus. This was a hub for agriculture and trade.

Now You Know: What is “discipleship”?

The True Meaning of “DISCIPLESHIP” – YouTube

What does it mean to “make disciples”? jesusfilm.org
“..What’s a disciple?

The Greek word that’s translated “make disciples” is mathēteuō, which comes from the root mathētēs, meaning “learner” or “pupil.” In ancient Greece, this word typically denoted someone who was an apprentice to a trade like masonry or shipbuilding. In philosophy, it spoke of someone who had developed a master/student relationship with a teacher.

For Christians, discipleship communicates the same sort of idea. The disciple is a believer who’s learning to obediently follow and serve Jesus as their master. Discipleship emphasizes more than simply accepting Jesus. It’s an enduring, long-term commitment to uncovering and discovering what it means to be devoted to Jesus. We do this through constant exposure to Scripture, commitment to communities of faith, and the direct involvement of mature believers in our lives…”

Various Ways?

6 Simple Ways to Make Disciples Without Adding Anything To Your Schedule – Caesar Kalinowski
https://youtu.be/qb7_YbdaDEQ
“..In the video clip above he says, “Let me give you six rhythms we’ve been using in community… First one is Know the Story. Okay, we all have a story. Is our story apart of God’s story or are we believing a different story that’s been told to us by maybe our parents, our boss, people growing up, the culture? Do we know God’s story as a story? We need to. If we’re going to be living as disciples who make disciples, we need to know God’s story. We need to get to know each other’s story deeply enough to apply the gospel… That leads us to another rhythm of Listening. We’re always listening to someone, but are we listening to God…We need to listen backwards through the Word of God—Who is God? How has He always been? We need to listen forward through the Holy Spirit. Like my prayer times are mostly filled up with me telling God what to do, then I shoot off into my day. But to cultivate a rhythm of listening to God and in community is how you get to know peoples stories… Next rhythm: Celebrate. Life is living in a rhythm of celebration. Think about all the holidays that are just coming around, and birthdays (everybody you know has one), and anniversaries, and graduations, and all. We need to join those celebrations and be the bringers of the better wine…Throw the best parties. The church should be the most celebratory people of the planet. We get to live forever! Party! Rhythm of Eating. Talk about moving from additional to intentional. We’re already eating like 21 times a week…What if I were to have three meals a week with people I’m trying to make disciples of? Then this rhythm of Bless…Ask the spirit to reveal to you three people that you could bless intentionally each week through either words, action, or gift. Imagine a community of people in a neighborhood, like ten or twelve, all blessing three people a week. You think that neighborhood would notice? It’ll transform a place. This last rhythm is ReCreate. It’s this idea of rest in Christ’s completed work and then out of that we create beauty and we work and we create value. Resting in what Christ has done for us, not to earn, but then we work. It’s the idea of sabbath.” ..”

Who Were The Twelve Disciples? – YouTube

In the Footsteps of the Apostles BY ANDREW TODHUNTER
nationalgeographic.com/
They were unlikely leaders. As the Bible tells it, most knew more about mending nets than winning converts when Jesus said he would make them “fishers of men.” Yet 2,000 years later, all over the world, the Apostles are still drawing people in.

“IN THE TOWN of Parur, India, in the southern state of Kerala, the polished stone floor of the old church of Kottakkavu gleams so brightly that it mirrors the crimson, pine green, and gold-upon-gold altarpiece like a reflecting pool.

..

“..Around the altarpiece, painted clouds hover in a blue sky. Small statues stand in niches backlit with brilliant aqua. On a rug near the church wall a woman in a blue sari with a purple veil covering her hair kneels motionless, elbows at her sides, hands upraised. In a larger, newer church adjacent, a shard of pale bone no bigger than a thumbnail lies in a golden reliquary. A label in English identifies the relic as belonging to St. Thomas. On this site, tradition says, Thomas founded the first Christian church in India, in A.D. 52.

..’

Peter was the movement’s first champion; in the Acts of the Apostles we hear of his mass conversions and miraclemaking—healing the lame, raising the dead—and in an un-Christian flourish, calling down a supernatural death upon one couple who held back a portion of their donation to the community…

The faith’s first martyr, according to the Bible, was St. Stephen, a young Christian leader who enraged a Jewish community by suggesting that Christ would return and destroy the Temple of Jerusalem…

In the year 44 King Herod Agrippa I imprisoned and beheaded James the Greater, the first of the Apostles to die…

Tradition holds that 11 of the Twelve Apostles were martyred. Peter, Andrew, and Philip were crucified; James the Greater and Thaddaeus fell to the sword; James the Lesser was beaten to death while praying for his attackers; Bartholomew was flayed alive and then crucified; Thomas and Matthew were speared; Matthias was stoned to death; and Simon was either crucified or sawed in half. John—the last survivor of the Twelve—likely died peaceably, possibly in Ephesus, around the year 100.

“..Mark the Evangelist too spread the word, bringing Christ’s message to Egypt and founding the Coptic faith. But for some Catholics, Mark represents most emphatically the saint as political symbol, powerfully linked with the identity of Venice. Although a figure from the ancient past, he retains a stronger grip on the consciousness of modern-day Venetians than Washington or Lincoln holds on most Americans.

Coptic Christians base their theology on the teachings of the Apostle Mark, who introduced Christianity to Egypt, according to the St. Takla Church in Alexandria, the capital of Coptic Christianity.

WHERE DID THE DISCIPLES GO? 12tribehistory.com
This information is based on the research of Dr. Herman Hoeh from an Article called “Where did the apostles go?” It was co-authored by John Keyser.

“..
First, Paul was to teach the Gentiles – he did that in Cyprus, Asia Minor and Greece. Second, he was to appear before kings – an event which landed him in prison in Rome for two-years. At the end of that two-year period, during which no accusers had appeared, Paul would automatically have been released according to Roman law. At that point, Luke stops the story of Paul. See Acts 28:31. Thirdly, he ended his work by going to the Lost Ten Tribes.

‘..James Alphaeus

There were 2 apostles named James. James of Alphaeus went to Spain. James, the brother of the Messiah, was martyred by Herod. (Acts 12:2). James, son of Alphaeus, was the one who left Palestine after the first twelve years. The deeds of this apostle are sometimes mistakenly assigned to James, John’s brother.

Bartholomew

Bartholomew worked with Thomas in the Parthian Empire. According to Nicephorus recorded that Bartholomew also spent part of his time in Armenia and Upper Phrygia in Asia Minor. Nicephorus called the area the “Western and Northern parts of Asia,” .(Asia Minor, modern Turkey today)…

Jude

Jude, his other name was Libbaeus Thaddaeus, had his ministry in Assyria and Mesopotamia. That is part of Parthia Empire also. All lands north of the Eurphates River belonged to the lost tribes of Israel according to Josephus. During the New Testament times, Parthia ruled most ruled over most of the Gentiles. Part of their possession was Assyria and Mesopotamia. They controlled the famous city of Babylon…

Philip

Philip was assigned to Scythia. Scythia was the land area located aroung the Black and the Caspian Seas. In 331 A.D. the Parthian Empire fell to Persia. The Parthians migrated to this region.

Matthew

Matthew [Levi], Metaphrastes tells us,

“went first into Parthia, and having successfully planted Christianity in those parts, thence traveled to Aethiopia, that is, the Asiatic Aethiopia, lying near India.”

Metaphrastes was the principal compiler of the legends of saints in the “Menologia” of the Byzantine Church. Also Dorotheus declares Matthew was buried at Hierapolis in Parthia.

Matthias

Ethiopia and Greek sources tell us Matthias went to Dacia. Dacia is modern day Romania and Macedonia…

. sources designate Dacia. Dacia was the extreme western part of Scythia. From Dacia came the Normans who ultimately settled in France and Britain.

John

John may have been sent to Gaul which is modern day France. This is only based on a French legend that Mary mother of Jesus went to Gaul. We know that the Messiah told John to take care of his mother. There is a legend that Mary went with John to France and later to Britain. Paul may have passed by Gaul on his way from Italy to Spain (Romans 15:24, 28). This is no historical proof that John went to Gaul.

In addition to being an active duty officer in the Air Force special operations, Damon serves as Executive Producer for “Surrender”, a faith-based film that follows true-life stories of six elite combat warriors representing four branches of the US Special Operations Command. The docudrama highlights these challenges and shares messages of hope and purpose to those who are suffering with post-traumatic stress and brings awareness to the suicide epidemic among veterans. Every 65 minutes a warrior commits suicide. “They believe that life no longer has meaning,” shares Damon. The film, an outreach of SOF Missions, gives viewers a glimpse of the powerful events that enable the story’s heroes to find strength and a path away from personal destruction to the One who heals both heart and soul. The backgrounds, branches of service, and personal experiences of each hero are vastly different, yet their personal pain is common to many—even to some outside of the service. I would later get a call that he caught a co-worker stealing money from him, which she admitted “framing” (she planted a $20 bill in my back pack that I used to change clothes) me. I would never find out why she did this, but have speculations. I was giving my job back and this other co-worker was fired.

Another conflict that I was “indirectly” involved and became a somewhat “peacemaker”. A co-worker had been working his second job and was getting burned out. He took his frustration at this current job and he started to argue with our boss. The boss got a little “heated” and I intervened to voluntarily do a certain job my boss was requesting from this co-worker. During “work” awhile after, my co-worker started to just share his gathered thoughts and realized he should not have done this. During our deep conversation, we were “distracted” with a work-related issue. However, I was going to try to tell my co-worker to confront our boss and ask for forgiveness. Well, this “workplace conflict” got resolved at a staff meeting later on, so my prayers were answered..praise the Lord!

Sal: When I encounter conflict (e.g. family fights, tense environments , wars , chaos in the news, etc..), I “try” to remember singing (above) “Come and let your peace fall in this ______ ”

What’s your personal definition of “peace”? What does it mean to you? Do you have it? How can you share it with others?

To sum it up:

1. Matthan, of Solomon’s descent, marries Estha and gives birth to Jacob. [Matthew]
2. Matthan dies. Matthat, of Nathan’s descent, marries Estha and gives birth to Heli. [Luke]
3. Jacob and Heli are uterine brothers (same mother but different fathers).
4. Heli marries a wife but dies childless.
5. Keeping Jewish Law in view, Jacob (Heli’s brother) marries his brother’s wife to raise up seed for him.
6. Joseph is born.
7. Joseph is naturally Jacob’s son. [Matthew]
8. But, is, according to Law, Heli’s son. [Luke]

Genealogy of Jesus complete-bible-genealogy.com
“..Jesus’ genealogy can be found at two places in the Bible:

Matthew’s gospel (Mat 1:2-16). Starts with Abraham and lists his descendants all the way down to Jesus. There are 41 generations in total, divided into 3 sections as follows:

1. Abraham – David (from Abraham to David)
2. David – Josias (from David until the carrying away into Babylon)
3. Jechonias – Jesus (from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ)

Each section contains 14 generations. Note, that David is counted twice: Once at the end of the first section, then once again at the beginning of the second section. This explains how 41 generations are divided equally into three. See Mat 1:17 for further explanation.

Luke’s gospel (Luk 3:23-38). This genealogy starts with Jesus and follows his line up until God. There are 77 generations mentioned in total…”
Was Jesus a Jew? gotquestions.org

‘..The very first verse of the New Testament clearly proclaims the Jewish ethnicity of Jesus. “The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham” (Matthew 1:1). It is evident from passages like Hebrews 7:14, “For it is clear that our Lord descended from Judah,” that Jesus descended from the tribe of Judah, from which we get the name “Jew.” And what about Mary, the mother of Jesus? In the genealogy in Luke chapter 3, we see clearly that Mary was a direct descendant of King David which gave Jesus the legal right to ascend the Jewish throne as well as establishing without any doubt that Jesus was a Jew ethnically…”

Who Was Jesus, the Man? By Heather Whipps | April 10, 2009 05:03am ET livescience.com
“..whether Christian or non-Christian,” said Marcus Borg, a retired professor of religion and culture at Oregon State University and current fellow of the Jesus Seminar, a group of preeminent academics that debate the factuality of Jesus’ life as portrayed in the Bible.

The following “facts” about Jesus would be affirmed by most history scholars, Borg said:..”

Who Is Jesus Christ? jw.org
“..16 Jesus was well-known as “Teacher.” (John 1:38; 13:13) What did he teach? Primarily, his message was “the good news of the Kingdom”—that is, God’s Kingdom, the heavenly government that will rule over the entire earth and will bring endless blessings to obedient humans. (Matthew 4:23) Whose message was this? Jesus himself said: “What I teach is not mine, but belongs to him who sent me,” namely, Jehovah. (John 7:16) Jesus knew that his Father wants humans to hear about the good news of the Kingdom. In Chapter 8, we will learn more about God’s Kingdom and what it will accomplish…”

“Believers”

Who is Jesus Christ? gotquestions.org
“Answer: Unlike the question “Does God exist?” very few people question whether Jesus Christ existed. It is generally accepted that Jesus was truly a man who walked on the earth in Israel 2000 years ago. The debate begins when the subject of Jesus’ full identity is discussed. Almost every major religion teaches that Jesus was a prophet or a good teacher or a godly man. The problem is that the Bible tells us that Jesus was infinitely more than a prophet, a good teacher, or a godly man….”

Who was Jesus?

Son of Man

What does it mean that Jesus is the Son of Man? gotquestions.org
“… Jesus is referred to as the “Son of Man” 88 times in the New Testament. A first meaning of the phrase “Son of Man” is as a reference to the prophecy of Daniel 7:13-14, “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him. …. The Jews of that era would have been intimately familiar with the phrase and to whom it referred. Jesus was proclaiming Himself as the Messiah.

A second meaning of the phrase “Son of Man” is that Jesus was truly a human being. God called the prophet Ezekiel “son of man” 93 times. God was simply calling Ezekiel a human being. A son of a man is a man. Jesus was fully God (John 1:1), but He was also a human being (John 1:14)…..Yes, Jesus was also the Son of Man—He was in His essence a human being. In summary, the phrase “Son of Man” indicates that Jesus is the Messiah and that He is truly a human being…”

“..What does the note actually say? Singer translated the Hebrew words as, “The nation will be raised up and it will become known that His word and His Torah stand.” He confirmed that the first letter of each of the Hebrew words in the cryptic message spells Yehoshua, the Hebrew name of Joshua, the disciple of Moses. It does not spell Yeshua, which is the name messianic groups use for Jesus…”
