Community raises more than $100,000 in support of high school teacher filmed brawling with student in class Yahoo Lifestyle
November 6, 2018 yahoo.com
“..People have donated more than $100,000 in support of a California high school teacher who was arrested after he was captured on camera brawling with a student.

Music teacher Marston Riley, 64, was taken into custody on suspicion of child abuse and causing great bodily injury on a child after the brawl broke out at Maywood Academy High School in Maywood, Calif., on Friday. However, in spite of this, members of the community have banded together to donate tens of thousands of dollars to support Riley, according to a GoFundMe started in his name.

“We all may have mixed feelings about what happened,” wrote Cecilia Diaz Jimenez, who created the fundraiser page to support the teacher. “But please do know that this is not the first time that Mr. Riley is [sic] attacked; physically or verbally. He is a great person and a great teacher.”

The footage in question shows Riley punching the student as the pair faced off in the classroom on Friday. Riley had initially asked the student to leave the classroom because he wasn’t wearing a proper uniform, Los Angeles news station KTLA reported…”

Colleagues defend teacher charged with pummeling student for calling him N-word By Alexandra Klausner November 5, 2018 | 11:25am | Updated nypost.com
“…Even as a female campus officer appears to intervene, Riley continues to pummel the student.

The teen, who has not been publicly identified, was treated for mild to moderate injuries at a local hospital and released, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office.

Students told KTLA the fight began when Riley asked the student to leave the classroom because he wasn’t wearing a proper uniform. The boy refused. One student began recording the spat and captured the teen hurling racial slurs at Riley, who is black.

“It was just back and forth, back and forth, and then the teacher just decided to throw a punch and that’s when everything happened,” one student told CBS.

Some students, parents and teachers defended Riley on social media — instead blaming the student for using racial slurs against him.

“We all may have mixed feelings about what happened. But please do know that this is not the first time that Mr. Riley is attacked; physically or verbally. He is a great person and a great teacher,” reads a description on the fundraising page.

“He was a really nice teacher, I always respected him. He always had a really good relationship with every student,” a student told KTLA.

Still, other parents were left disturbed by the situation.

“Just the fact that he’s hitting a child — it’s not right,” one mom told NBC…”

“The Central High School teacher who was hurt breaking up a lunchroom fight Dec. 4 hopes to return to work in the fall once he feels more like himself.

John Ekblad, 55, said in an interview this week that he’s slowly recovering from the headaches, nausea, memory loss and numbness in his right side. But a hand tremor makes it a struggle to lift food to his mouth, and he’s battling anxiety and memory loss.

“My big thing is anxiety — that ain’t me,” he said. “It’s like I’m in my body somewhere and I want to come out. It’s like I’m watching my life as a movie.”..”

In addition to being an active duty officer in the Air Force special operations, Damon serves as Executive Producer for “Surrender”, a faith-based film that follows true-life stories of six elite combat warriors representing four branches of the US Special Operations Command. The docudrama highlights these challenges and shares messages of hope and purpose to those who are suffering with post-traumatic stress and brings awareness to the suicide epidemic among veterans. Every 65 minutes a warrior commits suicide. “They believe that life no longer has meaning,” shares Damon. The film, an outreach of SOF Missions, gives viewers a glimpse of the powerful events that enable the story’s heroes to find strength and a path away from personal destruction to the One who heals both heart and soul. The backgrounds, branches of service, and personal experiences of each hero are vastly different, yet their personal pain is common to many—even to some outside of the service. The film reveals how God led each person to the point of fully surrendering to Him. To purchase the DVD go http://www.sofmissions.com/shop. In 2017, the DVD will be available on Amazon and iTunes.

Sal: I’ve encountered “conflict” in my various workplaces directly and indirectly. One time at my job working at Taco Bell (fast food), I was accused of stealing money. I was furious when my shift manager told me to go home until this was resolved. I would later get a call that he caught a co-worker stealing money from him, which she admitted “framing” (she planted a $20 bill in my back pack that I used to change clothes) me. I would never find out why she did this, but have speculations. I was giving my job back and this other co-worker was fired.

Another conflict that I was “indirectly” involved and became a somewhat “peacemaker”. A co-worker had been working his second job and was getting burned out. He took his frustration at this current job and he started to argue with our boss. The boss got a little “heated” and I intervened to voluntarily do a certain job my boss was requesting from this co-worker. During “work” awhile after, my co-worker started to just share his gathered thoughts and realized he should not have done this. During our deep conversation, we were “distracted” with a work-related issue. However, I was going to try to tell my co-worker to confront our boss and ask for forgiveness. Well, this “workplace conflict” got resolved at a staff meeting later on, so my prayers were answered..praise the Lord!

Spring Awakening (musical) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
“..is a rock musical with music by Duncan Sheik and a book and lyrics by Steven Sater. It is based on the German play Spring Awakening (1891) by Frank Wedekind. Set in late-19th-century Germany, the musical tells the story of teenagers discovering the inner and outer tumult of teenage sexuality. In the musical, alternative rock is employed as part of the folk-infused rock score…”

“..We are Totally…. Psyched to see how this show plays out on Broadway, and are excited to share some hidden gems that you might not have known…

Spring Awakening is based on the highly controversial and oft-censored 1891 play by German playwright Frank Wedekind. Spring Awakening was Frank Wedekind’s first play. He had it published at his own expense in 1891, but it was not performed until Wedekind started his own repertory company in 1906. The first production in the United States took place in 1912, but since the play was in German it failed to attract widespread interest. The play was finally performed in English in 1917. The debut performance almost didn’t take place because the New York City Commissioner of Licenses tried to shut it down, claiming that the play was pornographic in nature. Almost immediately, Wedekind was able to secure an injunction from the Supreme Court that allowed the play to go on. Unfortunately, the audience seemed to agree with the Commissioner, and the play closed after a single show…”

Personal Reflections

I thought the cast at the University of Minnesota-Morris theater group did a superb job “performance” wise. They are one very talented group (e.g. singing and acting)!

During one of the scenes when the student was going to tell his dad the “bad” news that he ‘ll be expelled or something. He was seen as a “failure” and “embarassment” to his dad, which he would get physically abused. Unfortunately, he would commit suicide. This brought up my indirect experience in high school when 3 classmates from my class were killed in different ways (one commited suicide too with a gun). This also brought me to one of the scenes from an old school movie called “Dead Poets Society”..

Navigating the risks and rewards of controversial themes in school theaters
“..Shorewood’s educational leadership sees these productions as social and educational investments rather than risks, suggests King. “First of all, students love performing these titles. So, the excitement level of students can’t be underestimated. A title can draw more students into the arts. Secondly, the social themes in these musicals are perfectly relevant to teenagers— homelessness, homophobia, child abuse, physical abuse, etc. ..”

Spring Awakening at ANU Arts Centre is a rock musical about teen angst Ron Cerabona November 6 2016 – 3:18PM esperanceexpress.com.au
“The 2006 musical, Spring Awakening, is set in late 19th-century Germany, but its themes are close to being timeless and universal. Co-director Grant Pegg says, “It’s a show about teenage issues in general. It traverses every teenage issue you could imagine – sexuality, suicide, relationships, rebellion, authority, school, sex, friendship.”

These teenagers are growing up in a deeply religious community in 1891. Melchior (played by Callum Bodman) and Wendla (Kaitlin Nihill) have known each other since childhood but are developing strange new feelings for each other that they don’t know how to explain or handle. Melchior’s anxious friend Moritz (Pip Carroll) is particularly disturbed by the dreams he has been having. And Ernst (Jake Willis) and Hanschen (Lachlan Agett) are developing a relationship that goes beyond friendship…

“… Melchior’s carefree behavior and rebellion are a catalyst for much of the show’s action (and the character is ably portrayed by McKenzie). He wonders about the origin of shame and believes that it is a product of education. He encourages close friend Moritz to embrace his sensual dreams and introduces Wendla to sex at his “special thinking place” while indulging her need to be punished. Her fate involves an abortion and death.

A friend, driven to achieve success by uncaring parents dies “Left Behind” the scene is very moving and effectively staged.

To take in the excellent performances, however, you need to be prepared for potentially offensive content. The show posts a Mature rating and contains nudity and all kinds of sexual activity. Some of the titles of the songs are so explicit that I can’t list them here. …..”

What to say about … Spring Awakening theguardian.com
You haven’t seen the teen musical sensation, but you can still regale your friends with tales of masturbation, sadism and body-popping – all stolen from the critics
‘..Now unfold the plot: the musical is set in the late 19th century and concerns itself with troubled puberty confronting strict bourgeois morality, you say, paraphrasing the Guardian. “We follow the linked fates of three teenage school pupils. Moritz is so tormented by sex and harried by exam pressure that he is driven to suicide. His rebellious friend, Melchior, unwarily impregnates a 14-year-old girl. Wendla, the innocent in question, dies in the course of an illegal abortion. Other pupils find release in masturbation and same-sex friendships but the show, like the play, remains an attack on a repressive, puritan culture.” Pause. Regain your enthusiasm. Then explode: “You’d have to be a dedicated churl, prude or bigot not to rejoice in the final sentiments and the final anthem” (Independent)…”

Deep Thought: What can “we” do to help Veterans with P.T.S.D.?

I decided to do this blog on this increasing growing topic after meeting a Vet that openly shared about this P.T.S.D. this morning. I was coming out of the local fitness center (R.F.C.) and as I was about to bike off after unlocking my chain, this “older” gentlemen (with a beard and a cane-thought he was blind as he held on to the rails along the wall. He appeared to be going to the P.E. Center to watch a local high school basketball game as he was wearing a West Central Knights jacket) wandered towards me to chat.

We talked about the nice sunny weather as a popular “Minnesota” topic. Somehow he asked where I was from, which I told him my parents are from the Philippines. He then told me he has had bad memories of being there? He then told me he was stationed there in the army. I then asked, “where-Subic Bay?”. He said, “yes..have you been there before”. I replied “yes too and told him I was there back in 2012 for vacation”. He openly (like many vets has had with me in the Morris area) shared he was in Vietnam. I then quickly replied, “thank you for serving”. He then replied, “not many people agreed when we returned home from Vietnam”, which I can agree with him from my history lesson. I then thought in my mind that it wasn’t his or any of the soldiers fault as I “blame” the “U.S. Government” (based on research I found). Anyways, he appeared to not want to chat more on this topic as he slowly walked away and went inside the RFC. I quickly prayed in my mind for him and thought about other Vets I know and have met.

Below are some notes I’ve collected on this topic on my facebook pic..

Veterans statistics: PTSD, Depression, TBI, Suicide.
http://www.veteransandptsd.com/PTSD-statistics.html

19% of veterans may have traumatic brain injury (TBI)
-recent sample of 600 veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan found: 14% post-traumatic stress disorder; 39% alcohol abuse; 3% drug abuse. Major depression also a problem.
-in times of peace, in any given year, about 4% (actually 3.6%) of the general population have PTSD (caused by natural disasters, car accidents, abuse, etc.)
-Oddly, statistics for veteran tobacco use are never reported alongside PTSD statistics, even though increases in rates of smoking are strongly correlated with the stress of deployment and combat, and smoking statistics show that tobacco use is tremendously damaging and costly for soldiers.

Wes Moore joined the US Army to pay for college, but the experience became core to who he is. In this heartfelt talk, the the paratrooper and captain—who went on to write “The Other Wes Moore”—explains the shock of returning home from Afghanistan. About Wingmen:
Wingmen is a gathering of men with the purpose of forming transparent, Christ-centered, masculine relationships. As Wingmen, we offer men acceptance, affirmation and accountability.

Wingmen is unique in the fact that it is not an accountability group, bible study, or networking group. It is an entity that emphasizes relationships above all else, relationships with Christ first and foremost and then relationships with other men. Our name, Wingmen, was purposeful in that fact that using military visual pictures/analogies are a powerful tool to bring home the idea of the need for masculine relationships in our lives as we conduct warfare and “spiritual maneuvers” in our daily spiritual battles. We do not dance around sensitive topics – pornography, addictions, over working, and abuse. We are a safe house — a place to get off the front lines and seek a reprieve/respite before jumping back into the battle. Wingmen is a 501C3

About Chad Williams:
Having been a featured guest on Fox News Channel, CNN News Room, Anderson Cooper 360, TBN, Daystar, Hour of Power, CBN 700 Club and more; former U.S. Navy SEAL Chad Williams draws on his experience as a combat veteran SEAL to yield an exclusive perspective rooted in teaching of Jesus of Nazareth.

Prior to entering SEAL training Chad was mentored by U.S. Navy SEAL Scott Helvenston. Just days before Chad headed off to Navy bootcamp, Helvenston took a brisk opportunity to serve his country once again in Iraq.

Shortly thereafter, Chad turned on a television one morning to learn first hand how precious and costly freedom is as his eyes met a screen that portrayed a smiling still image of his mentor followed by Scott’s birthdate separated by a *dash* March 31, 2004. What immediately followed was graphic video footage of Helvenston being mutilated and dragged through the streets of Fallujah, Iraq. Finally he was hung upside-down from the Euphrates River Bridge while an enraged Iraqi mob repeatedly chanted in Arabic, “Fallujah is the graveyard of Americans” and set him on fire.

Steeled in his resolve to walk in his Helvenston’s footsteps and become a SEAL in honor and memory of his good friend, Chad entered the military’s most grueling and difficult training known as BUD/S. BUD/S Class 254 started out with 173 sailors vowing they would die before they ever quit the rigorous training (which requires ringing a brass bell three times and surrendering their class helmet on the asphalt grinder). By graduation day there would only be 13 of those original sailors still standing there and Chad was among them.

Serving his country proudly as a Navy SEAL, on Teams One and Seven, Chad came into contact with the horrors of war first hand, even fighting his way alongside his Team through a premeditated ambush in Iraq, near the location that took Helvenston’s life in a similar scenario.

Today Chad is the author of SEAL of God and an in demand guest speaker, taking the principles and ethos learned as a U.S. Navy SEAL to better communicate the Gospel. As a gifted evangelist, Chad’s message is captivating and eye-opening as he relates to the audience the price of freedom that was not only paid for in the blood of our soldiers on battlefield but most importantly the blood of our Savior at the cross of Calvary.”

“….I did not know what to do, I was afraid to go to sleep in fear the enemy (VC) Viet Cong would hurt my family. I decided the only way out where the enemy could no longer hurt me or my family was to take a lot of medication and to commit suicide. I began taking medication and took about 26 or so pills the day of January 17, 1991. I knew that by taking that much medication it could possibly kill me, I was ready to stop living. …n my last breath of air, I just put both of my hands toward heaven and said to God, “DO SOMETHING WITH ME NOW OR TAKE ME HOME”. I took my last breath. The next thing that I remembered wad seeing white and my arms were still stretched toward heaven, I was numb all over and could not move, and was so hot inside, but I felt a peace in my mind. As I looked up toward heaven I heard these words, “WILLIAM YOU MUST NAME ALL OF THE PEOPLE THAT YOU HATE EVEN ALL OF THE VIETNAMESE THAT YOU HATE AND ALSO THE ONES THAT YOU THINK THAT YOU HATE, AND THEN ASK ME FOR FORGIVENESS. I said Lord I don’t hate anyone anymore, “AND GOD SAID NAME EACH PERSON.” So I started to name the ones that I hated and then ask God for forgiveness….”

“…Just take some examples: The veterans – men and women – who are coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). Here we are talking about more than a million vets. Simply coming back and resting for a while doesn’t heal their wounds. Our friend, Rev. Nigel Mumford is a veteran of English military who saw fellow soldiers killed and personally experienced healing for PTSD. He is now planning “Welcome Home” programs for wounded vets and is in touch with the Pentagon and UK military leaders for prospects on future programs. This is a huge need and requires experience and time that most healing ministries simply do not have. For instance, Judith and I spent an entire weekend ministering to a Vietnam vet who hadn’t been able to sleep in a bed for 20 years, but after prayer was able to sleep through the night for the first time in 20 years. And there are millions more who need prayer because human sources of healing are good as far as they go, but they don’t reach down into the very depths of the souls of vets who have been wounded or have seen friends die…”

“…ck to that moment to relive it again and again. So what is the answer?
One of the ways to defuse the memories is to expose them. I’ve heard it said that you are only as sick as the secrets you keep but revealing is healing! When you bring the event into the light, darkness loses its power!! The enemy would have you keep the memory under lock and key in the fortress of your mind. But Paul tells us that light and darkness can’t coexist. Darkness loses its power when you turn on the light! Exposing it and releasing it allows Jesus to restore your soul!
The word restoration in itself means to be put back together to its original state. We can infer that this means “before the trauma.” And if it’s before the trauma, then those memories aren’t going to continue to wreak havoc on your soul. You may still remember that place, but it won’t be so painful. I think of it much like a scar reminds you of a past wound or surgery. You see the reminder…but it doesn’t hurt anymore….”

Veterans statistics: PTSD, Depression, TBI, Suicide.http://www.veteransandptsd.com/PTSD-statistics.html19% of veterans may have traumatic brain injury (TBI)-recent sample of 600 veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan found: 14% post-traumatic stress disorder; 39% alcohol abuse; 3% drug abuse. Major depression also a problem.-in times of peace, in any given year, about 4% (actually 3.6%) of the general population have PTSD (caused by natural disasters, car accidents, abuse, etc.)-Oddly, statistics for veteran tobacco use are never reported alongside PTSD statistics, even though increases in rates of smoking are strongly correlated with the stress of deployment and combat, and smoking statistics show that tobacco use is tremendously damaging and costly for soldiers. *seehttps://www.facebook.com/groups/123846551128031/more..Good News Mindhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/556119821134734/Shocking PTSD, suicide rates for vets Released: June 05, 2013- See more at: http://www.facethefactsusa.org/facts/the-true-price-of-war-in-human-terms#sthash.7fiu03jh.dpufhttp://www.facethefactsusa.org/facts/the-true-price-of-war-in-human-termsMore British soldiers commit suicide than die in battle, figures .http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/defence/10178403/More-British-soldiers-commit-suicide-than-die-in-battle-figures-suggest.htmlGood News Deathhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/108262006010983/RESOURCES-FamiliesArmy wives take Battling BARE pledge in support of soldiers suffering from PTSDWritten by Melody Harstine Foster - June 28th, 2012 - 2 http://twitchange.com/army-wives-take-battling-bare-pledge-in-support-of-soldiers-suffering-from-ptsd/Military Marriages: The War of a Broken Heart at Homehttp://marriagemissions.com/military-marriages-the-war-of-a-broken-heart-at-home/Wives of PTSD Vets and Militaryhttps://www.facebook.com/WivesofPTSDVets=>Good News Familyhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/537041852992814/American Combat Veterans Need Youhttp://www.cru.org/military/veterans-day-ptsd.htmMinistering to Soldiers and Their Familieshttp://www.crcna.org/chaplaincy/ministering-soldiers-and-theirMilitary Bible wants to help soldiers suffering with PTSDhttp://www.silive.com/news/index.ssf/2010/11/military_bible_wants_to_help_s.htmlMilitary Chaplain Associationhttp://mca-usa.org/ministry-forum/wounded-healer/Wounded Warrior Projecthttps://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/Veterans' PTSD Projecthttps://www.facebook.com/veteransptsdprojectGood News Ministryhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/313230752154108/more..http://military.goodnewseverybody.comPRAYERScriptural Prayers for People Suffering from PTSD http://www.missionariesofprayer.org/2012/09/scriptural-prayers-people-suffering-ptsd/=>Good News Prayerhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/609542502392314/HEALINGCombat Faith Home Pagehttp://www.combatfaith.com/AttnCombatVets.htmlA Military Chaplain's War with PTSDhttp://www.guideposts.org/faith/outreach-ministries/faith-helped-military-chaplain-cope-with-ptsdPTSD Spirituality-Healing Souls Wounded by PTSDhttp://www.ptsdspirituality.com/about-dr-z/http://ministry.goodnewseverybody.com/healing.htmlBIBLEMilitary personnel find hope and help for PTSDhttps://www.mnnonline.org/news/military-personnel-find-hope-and-help-for-ptsd/Psychiatry is Junk scienceNo scientific data that Psychiatry works!http://www.bible.ca/psychiatry/psychiatry-junk-science-post-traumatic-stress-syndrome-PTSD-critical-incident-stress-debriefing-CISD-myth.htm=>Good News Biblehttps://www.facebook.com/groups/289838404478292/

Another post dealt with his time in Iraq: “Celebrating life. It has been exactly 1 year and 2 days since left Iraq seeing in Fallujah the most brutal explosion… I was left paralyzed and started a discussion over the radio… I was only focused on breathing deeply so that I don’t lose focus and continue the mission. [Those] were hours of agony waiting for an attack by the insurgency but we were able to exit Fallujah all alive. I was in vehicle #6.The worst was that #5 was a diesel truck, the perfect target. And I was only thinking about getting back with my family.”

Lopez added: “To be in the line of fire is f—– up but even more f—– is the suffering of the families.”

Lt. Gen. Mark Milley, the post’s commanding general, said Lopez did not experience direct combat in Iraq.

Veteran Brian Taylor Urruela Helps Other Vets Heal Through Sports By Caitlin Keating•@caitkeating Updated September 23, 2016 at 9:40pm EDT people.com
“Two days before he was to leave Iraq in 2006, Army Sgt. Brian Taylor Urruela s Humvee hit a pair of roadside bombs, killing his commanding officer and severely injuring him and his comrades.

After 35 unsuccessful surgeries, the life-long baseball player from Tampa, Fla., made the agonizing decision to have his mangled right leg amputated. He thought the worst was behind him, but a new kind of suffering soon began.

“When I got out of the military, all the support was gone,” says Urruela, 27, who was diagnosed with PTSD. “I was drinking away the pain.”

With therapy and a hefty dose of determination, he pulled himself out of that hole and now he is lifting up others with him.

In August 2012, Urruela and a fellow vet founded VETSports, a sports league with 100 players in several cities.

“Sitting home when you re having a bad day is the worst you can do,” says Urruela, who lives with his girlfriend and is studying sports management in college. His work is so inspiring that readers voted him one of 30 everyday heroes through PEOPLE and Major League Baseball s Tribute for Heroes campaign. ..”

Daily Balance: Body, Soul, and Mind

How to keep a healthy balance of all three-Body, Soul, and Mind…daily? Yeah, I know, it’s not that easy. I’m no expert, but I feel I should share what I do to encourage you all in what I “try” to do to keep living a healthy balance life. People tell me I look younger than my age, which I take it as a compliment. Growing-up, I “hated” it! I was always treated “like a kid” or  I was “look down” all the time. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to appreciate it and I try to take advantage of it by encouraging “younger” folks to not let others “look down at them”. I then learn from the “older” folks and any age “folks” on how to live life “better” overall.

What do I do in daily basis to keep a “balanced life”? Here is my “typical” day that I “try” to accomplish in a regular basis that keeps me running like the “energizer” bunny:

When I get up in the morning, I try to allow time to not get rush, so I can do my daily devotions (Soul/Spirit)…

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”Joshua 1:8

<p.
I like to read God's Word before breakfast because feeding my soul “awakens” the other parts (e.g. body and mind). I try to ask Heavenly Father what part of His “Good” Book (Love Letter) I should read for the day. When I had some “significant” dream, I like to reflect and write what was in my dream on a notebook next to my pillow. I’m usually too tired still and most of the time “rushed”, so I usually try to pick the chapter from the Book of Proverbs based on the day. For example, tomorrow morning will be Sunday-January 29th 2012. I would read Chapter 29 of Proverbs. If I’m in a “rush”, which I try not too-I would “try” to read at least a verse from the chapter. Ideally, I like to read the whole chapter. I then meditate on what I just read and try to remember what verse or topic sticks out the most. I then ask God to “mold” me to what I just read as I want to daily “grow” in my personal relationship with Him.

I then like to get a glass of juice, which I read it’s very healthy to have a fruit (e.g. juice) before a meal. It has to do with the digestive system, which helps prepare your stomach before a meal. They recommend having a fruit at least 30minutes to an hour before a meal. I then get dressed for the day, which I then picture putting the “Armor of God” (see Ephesians 6 on Spiritual Warfare). I started doing this after attending a “small group” I was involved and a lady encouraged all of us about putting the “Armor of God” (along with the spiritual gifts) daily. She would use the analogy as putting a winter outfit before going out in the cold during the winter time-“Would you go out in the cold without a winter jacket during the winter?”-Of course “no”, it’s like putting the “Armor of God” because we know the devil is out to seek and destroy God’s children. We need that protection daily, which is why too many Christians are getting “attacked” too often because they forgot this part.

After getting dressed and my personal cares, I “try” to get my “break” “fast” (BODY). As I “run” out of the house and go into my car/bike to get to work. I then meditate one of my favorite Scripture them-“Fruits of the Spirit” (e.g. patience, peace, joy, life, etc..). This helps me to more “Christ-like” daily, which I pray and ask God for all this. I then like to get my vocal cords (voice) ready, so I do my “vocal exercises” (see GoodnewsEverybody.com Music: Kaoroke, Sing, Singing, Sung, etc..) and then “worship” the Lord through a song.

“6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.

Praise the LORD. “Psalm 150

Along my ride (BODY-Bike if it’s nice weather, which is great daily exercise)/drive to work, I like to pray for various people (e.g. children waiting for the bus) and/or various topics (e.g. “Show me God how I can be used by You today”) depending on what God lays in my heart or what I see along the route.

Throughout the work day, I try to “keep my mind” occupied through breaking the daily “mundane” routine by doing different activities (e.g. singing, reading something “new”, etc..) each day. I like to ask the people I work with how was their day after work yesterday or how their weekend was. I try to keep their minds and mine renewed. I sometimes stay silent and converse with God. He sometimes give me a list of “things to do”, which I like to carry my pocket calender with me all the time.

When I come home, I try to check the list of things to do (e.g. errands). I usually spend time on my computer (e.g. email, websites, etc..) and take a break by doing some “physical exercise” (e.g. workout indoors during winter or some sport activity during the summer).

I don’t have cable, which I don’t mind as most of the stuff on it “pollutes” my mind. However, I can easily find “garbage” on the internet too. This is where that morning prayer I prayed on the “Armor of God” comes in. What has helped me in the past is regularly “fast” at least once a week (or at least 3 meals a week without food or just fruits-vegetables), which helps me “battle” daily temptation.

The Lord’s Prayer_Hymnal_ MV

Before I end my day, I like to read the news to see what’s going on in the world each day. However, I can’t trust mainstream media all the time, so I look at some “alternative-positive” news. This is where I find “good news” for news sources on my different websites I do-depending on the topic-geography. I then write on my “prayer” calender what I like to lift to God in prayer. I try to remember to use this time to also ask God to remind me of the “bad things” (“sins“) I committed and ask for forgiveness-like taking a “spiritual” shower, so I’ll be clean for a “new” day for tomorrow. I like to end with a “positive” note, so I reflect on what I”m thankful (blessed) to my Heavenly “Dad” and write it on another pocket calender. I then read some Scripture verse/chapter that relates to the theme of what happened that particular day before going to bed!

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God this is your spiritual[a] act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is his good, pleasing and perfect will.”Romans 12:1-2
