10 Reasons To Make Masturbation Part Of Your Wellness Routine by Alexandra JamiesonMay 5, 2015 10:42 AM mindbodygreen.com
“..Through working with thousands of women as a health coach (in addition to my own personal experience), masturbation has been both an uncomfortable topic to talk about — while also being a powerful healing technique. It’s time to finally embrace it.

Masturbation has gotten a bad reputation, mainly because religion and culture tell us it’s a sin. The Bible doesn’t explicitly talk about masturbation, although there is some stern warning against “spilling your seed on the ground.” The Catholic Church decided that masturbation (sometimes referred to as “onanism” after Onin, a Biblical character) was a sin deserving of eternal damnation.

By the time World War I came around, onanism was being called “self-abuse” and described in medical texts as more dangerous to young boys than lying or stealing. Girls and women aren’t even mentioned, as if “the fairer sex” couldn’t even possibly do something so dirty.

So it stands to reason that most of us would feel some traces of shame, guilt, or even fear when practicing this very natural act. But take heart from the animal world and modern science! Dozens of mammal, bird, and insect species have been documented to masturbate in captivity and in the wild. From penguins, to dolphins, horses, and even porcupines, mother nature has no judgment when it comes to wrapping your hand, wing, or fin, around your own personal magic wand. ..”

Masturbation Debate (Part 1) , from youtube.com
“..Published on Aug 17, 2012

One of the most common topics that gets debated in our ministry is masturbation. Is it a sin? Does the Bible say anything about it? Does it even matter when talking about sexual purity? These and many other questions come up over and over. This 3-part series will help shed light on this issue from a biblical perspective…”

WOMEN

Masturbation: Is It Wrong? Dr. Juli Slattery todayschristianwoman.com
Yes . . . and no. Guidelines for sorting out a complicated question.
“.. 1. What are you thinking about?

While masturbation itself isn’t immoral, the sexual fantasies that usually go with it may be. Most women only masturbate when they are thinking about or looking at something sexual. Sexual fantasies about someone you are not married to are, as Jesus stated, “adultery of the heart.”

“But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman [or man] with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (Matthew 5:28)

If you are single, fantasizing even about some fictional sexy guy is promoting lustful thoughts. If you are married and fantasizing about another man, you are violating, in your mind and heart, your promise to give yourself sexually only to your husband. On the other hand, there is nothing wrong with a married woman fantasizing about her own husband…

2. What is your motive?

The Bible makes it clear that God is very concerned about our motives. For example, giving money to your church might be a wonderful act of worship or an empty gesture, depending upon the attitude of your heart. The same can be true of masturbation.
….
3. Is it mastering you? (No pun intended.)

The apostle Paul taught that “nothing should master” us. In other words, we shouldn’t be controlled or addicted to anything…

4. Am I honoring God with my body?

“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body” (1 Corinthians 6:19–20)….

Can Christians Masturbate?

Negative Effects of Masturbation
September 24, 2012 by Andrew Michell howtostopmasturbation.com
“…Picture
Does masturbation have negative effects? Scientists published this very revealing graph in the Archives of Sexual Behavior here. You can see that as masturbation increases the satisfaction with life decreases. The more a person masturbates the more dissatisfied a person may become. This leads to depression, unhappiness, lack of motivation, and other problems. (click to enlarge picture)

If masturbation is so healthy as so many claim then why are so many people here complaining of pain and negative effects from masturbating? Religion has nothing to do with it because even non religious people experience the same pains and negative side effects. Actually %100 of the data from this study came from Sweden, which is the most atheistic country* in the western world! The more often atheists masturbate the worse they feel. Some will reply “But masturbation is okay unless you are doing it 10 times a day.” Look at the graph. People who feel the worst masturbate only 10 times a month. ..”

The Bible talks about barren women who later had children. Why did they have to wait? thisisyourbible.com

What does the bible say about barren women who had to wait til late in life to have children? What is the lesson for us?

“Thank you for asking a question on http://www.thisisyourbible.com

In the Bible just 6 women are described specifically as ‘barren’.

By nature the women who were barren would have borne no children. Each had children by the direct intervention of God.

Barrenness in women and infertility in men are evils of this present world of sin and death brought about by Adam’s disobedience. Barrenness is not punishment on individuals, but like disease, accidents, famines, floods and earthquakes, just another evil that many have to endure.

The promise to Israel, had they kept the covenant made with God at Sinai, makes clear that God can and would intervene and ensure fertility of both people and livestock…

“..Children are a blessing from the Lord, and motherhood is a gift to mankind. In many cultures across the ages a woman’s value was based on her ability to reproduce, and her worth went up even more if she gave birth to a son. Not everyone can have children, though, so it has been a source of pain and suffering for many families through the years. Fortunately, a woman’s value today is not based solely on her fertility, but rather on the many other gifts and talents she might possess. The Scriptures do provide a source of hope and comfort to those who desire children, so here are my top 7 Bible verses about barren women…”

After Menopause, 52 Year Old Woman Delivers Her First Baby

“Published on Aug 11, 2013

http://www.africtoday.com

Mrs Kate Fezigha, a 52-year-old woman, has given birth to her first baby, which came after 19 years of her marriage.

Mrs Kate Fezigha got married in 1994.

For years, the new mother, who is a midwife at the General Hospital, Sagbama in Bayelsa State, has supervised the delivery of many children but she never had a child.

She got frustrated after her attempt to adopt a child from a Bayelsa-based orphanage home was scuttled, as she was duped by the coordinator of the home.

Her menstrual flow ceased sometime last year and Fezigha concluded that menopause had set in and her chances of having a child gone.

Afterwards, she started experiencing regular dizziness and pains in some parts of her body and went for a test and the scan showed she was pregnant.

Nine months after, she gave birth to a baby girl named Prudent on June 3, 2013.

Fezigha said at the dedication of the child and thanksgiving service, in Yenagoa that the conception and birth of the “miracle baby” was “the Lord’s doing and it is indeed marvellous”.

She said the pressure on her during her 19-year wait was unbearable, especially as the children she assisted their mothers to be delivered had become parents.

She said: “I was worried that all the children I had taken delivery of while on duty in the hospital were now parents.

“I reflected and declared to myself that in spite of the fact that no child had died in my hand during birth as a midwife, why shouldn’t I have mine?

“But a voice kept telling me to redouble my effort and I shall be blessed.

“But the mysterious voice started reducing in my head as I was fast losing hope. I decided to adopt a baby from an orphanage and I was swindled.

“At this stage, I ignored the voice and handed the matter over to God. And now I am a happy mother.”

It emerged that it was a mysterious sickness that led her into going for a scan that revealed a fibroid or cyst.

Another scan revealed that she was pregnant.

“I had mixed feelings after the second scan. I even told my husband that it’s false pregnancy.

“When my husband asked me what that meant, I became his lecturer, telling him what it meant and saw the expectation of a pregnancy in his eyes.

“A few months later, I started seeing some changes in my body. Throughout this period, I could not go to work and had to be hospitalised twice before I was delivered of the baby.

“Those who knew me could not believe it and screamed when they saw my protruding stomach. They screamed and shouted praise the Lord.”

Basking in the euphoria of her new bundle of joy, Fezigha said that her family is full of praises to God.

“All the period of waiting was not easy, but I am comforted by the word of God. Women who are hoping to have children should put their trust in God.””

Assistance in knowing how old is too old has now been provided by a Romanian woman named Adriana Iliescu. The 66-year-old unmarried professor and writer gave birth by emergency Caesarean section to a baby girl on Jan. 17 at the Giulesti Maternity Hospital in Bucharest. She is now the oldest woman in the world ever to give birth. Her doctor, when asked why he would use reproductive technology to permit a 66-year-old woman to become pregnant, said he helped her because that is what she wanted to do, and because he was impressed with her faith in God and with her “determination.”…

I began to understand that I was in need of spiritual healing. Karen was so dynamic and passionate about helping us through our struggles. The meeting left me emotionally exhausted, but with a sense of renewed faith and peace! Through Karen’s teaching, I learned that the Lord will fulfill His promises to me and that my past sins cannot separate me from His love—if I ask for His forgiveness. I learned that the Lord is never early and never late! He has a plan, which I can now see unfolding little by little. I now know that He will direct me to the path I should follow—whether IVF, adoption, IUI, or natural conception. WOW, what a weight that has been lifted off of me! Knowing that He is in control and I don’t have to be, I no longer feel pressure to do IVF or even know all the answers. I have put all my faith in Him, and I am giving Him my dreams! ..”

Reflection: Church Service-“Breaking that Spiritual Dam”

During worship service this morning at my local church, I shared some thoughts that I felt eager to share with the church body during “shares” after the worship music:

I shared that I’ve been interested in the recent news in Oroville, California…

… and been following up on it. I felt that their is a lot of symbolism with “man-made” dams that have been constructed around the world with our “spiritual” walk. The dams can be a symbolism of “lies” (e.g. “Your not good enough” , You are a loser”, etc..)that has been spoken to each of us in various ways that hinder us to receive more what God can do through us.

Before writing this, I was reminded of this “old-school” worship song..

https://wordpress.com/notifications
Let The River Flow Lyrics Darrell Evans

I feel that we need to let God destroy that “spiritual dam” in our personal lives in order for His “Holy Spirit” to move in us mightier as His children.

What are you currently personally “struggling” with? Do you trust that God will get your through it? I then shared one of the songs that was sung during worship on “I’m NO longer a slave to fear..”, which I shared last year at church that we can substitute “fear” with whatever (e.g. sin, depression, alcohol, deception…

drugs, an orphan, anger, cancer, PTSD, shame , jealousy, greed, stress, bullying, sexual impurity, lost, past, etc..) is keeping you “bondage”.. Keep repeating this to get it in your head until you have been release from these. This is part of meditation w/ God’s word (Bible verses on each one).

After my share, the guest speakers (Dennis & Zoe) from Pillager, MN shared about their recent trip to the Philippines. This family duo modeled how God can use us . They went to the Philippines to minister to the people there in different barangays/villages in various ways (e.g. healing, words of knowedledge, encouragement, etc..) This was such an encouragement for all of that we don’t have to depend on “ministers” or “church leaders” to do God’s work. We all can be used by Him to bring the taste of God’s kingdom on earth.

Hope and pray this will touch you and may God use each of us mightily in these days and please pray for the people of Oroville and the communities in the valley downstream of the #Orovillespillway or #Orovilledam. Feel free to share your thoughts, prayer requests, etc..

Deep Thought: Are all “sins” equal?

Are all sins equal to God? Is all sin the same? gotquestions.org
“..So, although Jesus said that lust and adultery are both sins, that does not mean they are equal. It is much worse to actually murder a person than it is to simply hate a person, even though they are both sins in God’s sight. There are degrees to sin. Some sins are worse than others. At the same time, in regard to both eternal consequences and salvation, all sins are the same. Every sin will lead to eternal condemnation (Romans 6:23). All sin, no matter how “small,” is against an infinite and eternal God, and is therefore worthy of an infinite and eternal penalty. Further, there is no sin too “big” that God cannot forgive it. Jesus died to pay the penalty for sin (1 John 2:2). Jesus died for all of our sins (2 Corinthians 5:21). Are all sins equal to God? Yes and no. In severity? No. In penalty? Yes. In forgivability? Yes.
..”

All Sins Are Not Equal J.I. Packer/ DECEMBER 28, 2004 christianitytoday.com
“..Scripture shows that in God’s estimate some sins are worse and bring greater guilt than others, and that some sins do us more damage. Moses rates the golden calf debacle a great sin (Ex. 32:30)….

… Ezekiel in his horrific allegory says that after Oholah (Samaria) had ruined herself by unfaithfulness to God, Oholibah (Jerusalem) “became more corrupt … in her lust and in her whoring, which was worse than that of her sister” (Ezek. 23:11, ESV). John distinguishes sins that do and do not inevitably lead to death (1 John 5:16), picking up Jesus’ warning about the unforgivable sin (Mk. 3:28-30).

Unforgiveable sin?

What is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? bibleinfo.com
“…Is there a sin that cannot be forgiven?
Yes, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, is any sin that a person clings to by continually resisting the convicting power of the Holy Spirit. Keep in mind that there is not one specific sin that is unforgivable, such as lying, stealing or murder, but rather a perpetual hardening of the heart and willfully sinning against God and man (1 Timothy 4:2; Titus 1:15). In Acts 7:51, Stephen says the following to the Pharisees, “You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.” In a nutshell the unpardonable sin is any sin that a person doesn’t want to give up, confess, or even ask forgiveness for and additionally doesn’t want to hear any more about it from the Holy Spirit…”

“..Many interpretations exist regarding this “sin that leads to death.” Unfortunately, the text is not clear what this “sin” is. It does appear clear John wrote to believers and was speaking of physical death. For example, Ananias and Sapphira experienced physical death for their sin (Acts 5). The Muslim Allah was a moon god with NO Name, though he was given 99 attributes. Allah is a NOUN means “god” in Arabic. “God” is a TITLE, not a name.
The name Allah was used as the personal name of the Moon god, in addition to the other titles that could be given to him.

Nearly 1 million of them are moved across an international border every year on the black market
70% of those slaves are female
50% are children

Behind drugs and weapons, human trafficking is the third largest international crime industry in the world
It generates approximately $33 billion ever year
Over half of that comes from industrialized countries
Even for purposes of labor exploitation, women still constitute over half of Earth’s enslaved population
Organ harvesting is another seldom mentioned but quickly growing industry that benefits from human trafficking
An estimated 30,000 victims of sex trafficking die each year from abuse, disease, torture, and neglect
Eighty percent of those sold into sexual slavery are under 24, and some are as young as six years old
Ludwig “Tarzan” Fainberg, a convicted trafficker, said, “You can buy a woman for $10,000 and make your money back in a week if she is pretty and young. Then everything else is profit
A 2003 study in the Netherlands found that, on average, a single sex slave earned her pimp at least $250,000 a year
A human trafficker can earn 20 times what he or she paid for a girl. Provided the girl was not physically brutalized to the point of ruining her beauty, the pimp could sell her again for a greater price because he had trained her and broken her spirit, which saves future buyers the hassle
The end of the Cold War has resulted in the growth of regional conflicts and the decline of borders. Many rebel groups turn to human trafficking to fund military actions and garner soldiers.
According to a 2009 Washington Times article, the Taliban buys children as young as seven years old to act as suicide bombers.
The price for child suicide bombers is between $7,000-$14,000
UNICEF estimates that 300,000 children younger than 18 are currently trafficked to serve in armed conflicts worldwide
Babies are sold on the black market, where the profit is divided between the traffickers, doctors, lawyers, border officials, and others.
Researchers argue that as the economic crisis deepens, the number of people trafficked for forced labor will increase.
Human trafficking is one of the fastest growing criminal enterprises because it holds relatively low risk with high profit potential. Criminal organizations are increasingly attracted to human trafficking because, unlike drugs, humans can be sold repeatedly
There are more slaves in the world today than ever before in history..”

5 Prevailing Causes of Human Trafficking borgenproject.org
“…According to a 2012 International Labour Organization Report, 21 million people are victims of forced labour. The Asia-Pacific region accounts for the largest number of forced labourers in the world with 11.7 million victims (56 percent of the global total), followed by Africa with 3.7 million (18 percent) and Latin America with 1.8 million victims (nine percent).

According to the Huffington Post, approximately 75 to 80 percent of human trafficking and slavery is for sex. The rest are forced into economic labour exploitation, such as agriculture and construction work. In 2015, 5,544 cases of human trafficking were reported, as stated in a study by the National Human Trafficking Resource Center.

Human trafficking can be separated into sex trafficking and labour trafficking. Though they have different purposes, there are general trends that explain the overall root causes of human trafficking.

In California, many vulnerable women and young girls are held against their will and forced to sell their bodies. The victims are often girls as young as 12 who are sexually exploited for the financial gain of human traffickers. They are afraid for their lives and abused — sexually, physically, and mentally.

Human trafficking is said to be one of the fastest growing criminal enterprises in the world — and it is taking place right here in our own backyard. Three cities in California — San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego — are recognized by the FBI as high intensity child sex trafficking areas. In addition, a recent national study by a victims’ rights group gave California an “F” grade for its weak laws dealing with child sex trafficking.

The CASE Act, a partnership of California Against Slavery and the Safer California Foundation, will protect children in California by: Increasing prison terms for human traffickers. Requiring convicted sex traffickers to register as sex offenders. Requiring all registered sex offenders to disclose their internet accounts. Requiring criminal fines from convicted human traffickers to pay for services to help victims.

The CASE Act has also been endorsed by organizations representing over 90,000 rank and file California Peace Officers, advocates for the protection of children, including Marc Klaas and the KlaasKids Foundation, and victims who survived sexual exploitation when they were children…”

Deep Thought: Can I forgive my significant “other” that just hurt me?

We hear about forgiving our enemies when it comes to a political warfare or even bullies we grew up with. However, can we forgive those that we had a personal relationship (e.g. spouse, ex boyfriend/girlfriend, former friend, relative/family member, etc..)?

Forgiveness Won’t Fix Your Toxic Relationship
We are always called to forgive; but forgiveness should not be seen as a remedy to another’s character
“…Before we go any further, we must acknowledge that men can also be the victims of emotional abuse—but the statistics are difficult to interpret because men are even less likely than women to report emotional abuse.
..

We are always called to forgive; but forgiveness should not be seen as a remedy to another’s character, rather a soothing balm to protect our own hearts from bitterness.

But we see sisters and brothers letting destructive people into their lives, laboring under the fundamental misunderstanding that forgiveness equals being a doormat. It’s common as Christians to put ourselves in harm’s way, stay in abusive relationships and fail to set healthy boundaries—all under the banner of “forgiveness.” I know from experience.

Forgiveness and reconciliation are very different, yet often confused, perhaps because of the widespread teaching that God forgives us and doesn’t remember our sins. Are we to follow in His steps when we continue in toxic, abusive relationships?…

Deep Thought: What “causes” us to do “bad” (sin) stuff?

May 16, 2016 at 1:58 am | Posted in bad, Deep, sin, Thought, Uncategorized | Leave a comment
Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Above is a beautiful flower/plant, do you agree? Ey, beauty belongs to the “eye of the beholder”! Well, it’s actually a weed-“creeping Charlie”. I wouldn’t know this was a week until my neighbor pointed it out. I thought it was a beautiful flower and didn’t mind it growing all over my lawn. Unfortunately, my neighbor thought the opposite. She didn’t want it getting it in her yard and asked if she could spray my yard to further growing and overtaking her yard too.

Well, I “liken” this “weed” to “bad stuff” or “sin” in our daily lives. As I was pulling ..

…the root of these “weeds” to prevent it spreading all over my beautiful landscape, I thought of this analogy. We can just “pluck” the flower/plant/weed that we see above ground, but it’ll continue to grow. It’s more effective to get the “root” or “source”. I then question, what is the cause or “root” of all the “bad” (sin) stuff we do off and on in our daily lives? For example, an alcoholic drinks and gets drunk. Why is this person getting drunk in the first place? From my personal “indirect” experiences with living (knowing) with “alcoholics”, they seem to be trying to hide and forget their past darkness (e.g. abuse) or “post traumatic experience” (a.k.a. P.T.S.D.). What can help them? “Healing” (only God-Dr. Jesus) can get rid of that “root” that “we” (humans) ourselves can’t by our own power. I thought of this after struggling trying to get one of the roots (above pic), which required a “bigger” tool..

Can you relate? Have you tried other alternatives (e.g. counseling, psychologist, etc..)? Try asking “God” (a.k.a. “Jehovah Rapha“-Healer)..

“…In Matt. 15:19 Jesus said sin begins in our heart, and in Jeremiah 17:9 we’re told that our heart is incurably wicked. These are references to the sin nature we all inherited from our first parents. Therefore, until we receive a new heart we’ll always be sinners…”

What Is Sin? The Essence and Root of All Sinning desiringgod.org
Why Do People Sin? By Ron Boatwright netbiblestudy.net
“… People sin because we are deceived by sin. We are to, “Exhort one another daily, while it is called today, lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin” (Hebrews 3:13). We can even deceive ourselves by denying we have sinned. “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” (1 John 1:8). Because of the deceitfulness of sin, we are to, “Beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked” (2 Peter 3:17). We are warned, “Let no man deceive you with vain words” (Ephesians 5:6). Yes, sin is deceiving.

People sin because there is temporary pleasure in sin. Moses chose “rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season” (Hebrews 11:25). Because of the pleasures of sin, we are tempted and enticed. “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin, and sin when it is finished, brings forth death” (James 1:14-15).

Generational Curses-Sins?

Joshua 9 New International Version (NIV) biblegateway.com
The Gibeonite Deception
“….. They continued, “Let them live, but let them be woodcutters and water carriers in the service of the whole assembly.” So the leaders’ promise to them was kept…

.. 23 You are now under a curse: You will never be released from service as woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God.”..”

Question: “What does the Bible say about breaking generational curses?” gotquestions.org

“..There is a trend in the church today to try to blame every sin and problem on some sort of generational curse. This is not biblical. God’s warning to visit iniquity on future generations is part of the Old Testament Law. A generational curse was a consequence for a specific nation (Israel) for a specific sin (idolatry). The history books of the Old Testament (especially Judges) contain the record of this divine punishment meted out.

The cure for a generational curse has always been repentance. When Israel turned from idols to serve the living God, the “curse” was broken and God saved them (Judges 3:9, 15; 1 Samuel 12:10-11). Yes, God promised to visit Israel’s sin upon the third and fourth generations, but in the very next verse He promised that He would show “love to a thousand [generations] of those who love me and keep my commandments” (Exodus 20:6). In other words, God’s grace lasts a thousand times longer than His wrath.

For the Christian who is worried about a generational curse, the answer is salvation through Jesus Christ. A Christian is a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). How can a child of God still be under God’s curse (Romans 8:1)? The cure for a “generational curse” is repentance of the sin in question, faith in Christ, and a life consecrated to the Lord (Romans 12:1-2)…”

Breaking generation curses | HOW TO BREAK FREE FROM GENERATIONAL CURSES

“…Breaking generation curses:
What is a generational curse and how can we break it?

Hey what’s up family today we are talking about The idea of generational curses comes primarily from Exodus and verses similar to that referring to the effects of sin being passed down to the 3rd and 4th generation. And so today I want to answer three questions. What is it? How does it get into our families? How can we break it?

1. What is it? It’s a specific pattern (teen pregnancy, divorce, pornography, anger, abuse, adultery, alcoholism) that is deposited into the family where the family members will be more predisposed to repeating because of heightened exposure to it. ..”

Romans 7 Released From the Law, Bound to Christ biblegateway.com
“..4 So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. 5 For when we were in the realm of the flesh,[a] the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death. 6 But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.
The Law and Sin

7 What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”[b] 8 But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of coveting. For apart from the law, sin was dead. 9 Once I was alive apart from the law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. 10 I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death. 11 For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, deceived me, and through the commandment put me to death. 12 So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good.

13 Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! Nevertheless, in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it used what is good to bring about my death, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.

14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[c] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature[d] a slave to the law of sin…”
