History

Origin of the Name Palestine palestinefacts.org
Where did the name Palestine come from?
The name Palestine is given to the region spreading from eastern Mediterranean coast to the Jordan Valley to the area covering Galilee Lake in the north and southern Negev Desert. The origin of this word lies in Pleshethâ€. This is a name appearing frequently in the Bible and have started being known as Philistine in English. The world root of Pleshethâ lies in the word palahâ was is a term used generally in the sense of migratory, referring to the Palestinian’s conquest of the coast of Mediterranean. These people were mostly originates of Asia Minor and Greece and gradually became a part of the Arab world…”

In AD 135, the Emperor Hadrian blotted out the name Provincia Judea and renamed it Provincia Syria Palaestina. This was the Latin version of the Greek name and soon became a name to be used as an administrative unit. This name was shortened to Palaestina and the name Palestine was derived from it as a modern and anglicized version. No changes occurred to this name until after the fourth century had passed when Palestine was divided in to three regions, following the imperial reorganization. The name Palestine was used by the Christian Crusades to regard all three of the divided regions in general and continued to be used for the regions on both sides of the Jordan River in general. Palestine went under the rule of the Ottoman Turks for 400 years where its administration was attached to Damascus. After the fall of the Ottoman Empire in World War I, the name Palestine was revived and was applied to the land falling under the British Mandate for Palestine. Arabs use the name Falastinâ for Palestine which is an Arab pronunciation of the Roman word Palaestina. ..

“..The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct “Palestinian people” to oppose Zionism. Yes, the existence of a separate Palestinian identity exists only for tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan.

EXODUS – Trailer (1960)

Exodus: The Real Story openu.ac.il
“..Prof. Aviva Halamish of the Department of History, Philosophy and Judaic Studies, opened her lecture on “The True Story of Exodus” by asking if anyone in the audience had any personal connection with the Exodus. Two people raised their hands; one who had a birth certificate indicating that he was one of tens of babies born on the very same embattled ship of Jewish refugees.

“The real story of Exodus ” Prof. Halamish explained “is not reenacted in the Otto Preminger film based on Leon Uris’ book. And, there is no Paul Newman either. The real story of the Exodus also played no part in influencing the UN decision for partition, nor did it influence the recommendations of the UNSCOP commission, “which according to Halamish “just happened to coincide with the arrival of the Exodus in Haifa’s port.”

The real story of the boat known as Exodus is no less astounding and epic in nature than the story portrayed in the 1960 film, by the same name. The Exodus, which departed from France on July 11, 1947, was filled to capacity with 4,500 Jewish refugees, making it the most populous boat to bear refugees to Palestine since the end of the Holocaust. For nearly the entire journey, the Exodus was followed by 6 British ships which, in spite of the Honduras flag which flew from its mast, had early on identified the Exodus as belonging to the struggling Jewish government in Palestine. In addition to the refugees, the Exodus carried 36 American volunteers and a cadre of Israeli Jewish volunteers largely despatched from the Jewish Agency, the official governing body of the Jewish population in Palestine.

The timing, unlike the portrayal in the film, “had more to do with the Tour de France than the UNSCOP — The United Nations Special Committee on Palestine — which was then visiting Palestine and was chartered to bring its recommendations for resolving the issue of the warring Arab and Jewish populations in Palestine” Prof. Halamish revealed.

Why the Tour de France? The Jewish leadership felt that world attention would be riveted more to the Tour de France, than a sole boat chugging its way from France to Haifa. ..

However, and this is one of the other reasons that the story of the Exodus has taken on almost mythic proportions, the British decided that they needed to “teach the refugees,” (and probably the Jewish Agency and its agents throughout the world) “a lesson.” As a result, all of the 4,500+ refugees were reboarded onto three boats to begin a three-day journey back to France.

France agreed to accept the refugees provided that they “would alight willingly” and here was the catch. In spite of the fact that there was little communication among the three boats, and there were refugees of various backgrounds, languages and ages — no one would agree to willingly alight. A few did: those who were injured during the ocean battle with the British, and women whose pregnancies were considered riskier. Those whose pregnancies and pending deliveries were considered to be ‘normal’ insisted on staying on the boat. All told 150 people got off the boat. …”

In U.N. Speech, Noam Chomsky Blasts United States for Supporting Israel, Blocking Palestinian State

“Published on Oct 22, 2014

http://democracynow.org – As U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announces plans to set up an investigation into the attacks on United Nations facilities during Israel’s recent assault on the Gaza Strip, we broadcast the speech of world-renowned political dissident Noam Chomsky, who recently spoke in the hall of the U.N. General Assembly at an event sponsored by the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People. “The pattern that was set in January 1976 continues to the present,” said Chomsky, Institute Professor Emeritus at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. “Israel rejects a settlement of these terms and for many years has been devoting extensive resources to ensuring it will not be implemented with the unremitting and decisive support of the United States — military, economic, diplomatic and ideological.”

Three years ago, Vatican officials applauded the U.N.’s move, which gave Palestine the same status as the Vatican before the international organization. But even before U.N. recognition, the Vatican supported the creation of a Palestinian nation.

Why Palestinian Davids will defeat the Zionist Goliath By Kevin Barrett on November 1, 2015 veteranstoday.com
“..The current outbreak of what looks to become the Third Intifada is rooted in the belligerent, uncompromising, expansionist and genocidal policies of the state of Israel, which have continued regardless of what the Palestinians do. We’ve seen the Israelis “mowing the lawn in Gaza” every few years, killing thousands of innocent civilians. We see ongoing brutalization of the Palestinian population that is clearly designed to make life unlivable for the Palestinians. And this amounts to genocide, as professor Lawrence Davidson of West Chester University has said. He is from a Jewish background himself. And he is far from the only person from a Jewish background who recognizes that the current policies of the Israeli government amount to genocide. So given that there has been absolutely no progress on the political front, and given that the Zionist leadership is under the domination of a certified psychopath, Benjamin Netanyahu, one of the principle authors of the September 11th Zionist coup d’état in the United States, it is clear that the only way the Palestinians have any hope of maintaining their struggle over the long term, which is what is required, is to admit that negotiations currently are not possible – and to opt for military resistance…

The cost of the Zionist occupation of Palestine is getting higher and higher. Here in the United States, more and more Americans are waking up and realizing that since the coup of September 11th, which about one-third of Americans realize was an inside job, the United States has spent trillions of dollars – as much as four or five trillion dollars according to some counts – in wars designed to destabilize Israel’s enemies, and to ultimately work for the interests of Israel, not the United States. So the costs of the Zionist project have reached a ridiculous level. The economy of the United States has been crippled by the 9/11 wars for Israel. This (asymmetry) is perhaps the most important dimension of the asymmetric struggle between the Palestinians and the Zionists. The Zionists have to spend millions of millions of dollars to try to defend against what the Palestinians can do with a two dollar knife or a ten dollar per month internet connection.”

Israel blows up Gaza ceasefire Ali Abunimah Rights and Accountability 13 November 2018 electronicintifada.net
“..Israel carried out air raids across Gaza on Monday night with Palestinian resistance factions firing some 300 rockets into Israel in retaliation for an Israeli raid Sunday that killed seven members of the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas…

It remained to be seen if Israel’s security cabinet, which was due to meet Tuesday, would agree to return to the ceasefire that Israel violated.”

‘Everything is a target’: Gaza residents decry Israeli strikes

“..On Tuesday, the armed wing of Hamas, the group that administers the Gaza Strip, warned it would increase attacks and fire rockets at the Israeli towns of Ashdod and Beersheba if Israel continues to carry out air raids on civilian buildings.

The statement by al-Qassam Brigades was released hours after a rocket from Gaza killed an Israeli man in the coastal town of Ashkelon.

At least seven Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since late on Monday, in the worst flare-up of violence between the two sides since the 2014 Israeli assault on the Strip.

The escalation came after at least seven other Palestinians were killed on Sunday in a covert Israeli operation, to which Hamas responded with rocket fire from Gaza. One Israeli soldier was also killed in the undercover raid near Khan Younis…”

ANALYSIS: Israel Readies for Third Gaza War Tuesday, November 13, 2018 | Yochanan Visser .israeltoday.co.il
“..The dramatic announcement, a clear sign Israel is preparing for another war against Hamas and the other Palestinian terror groups in Gaza, came after more than 400 rockets rained down on southern Israel since Monday afternoon.

Magen David Adom, the Israeli first aid organization and ambulance service, said 27 Israelis were injured by the massive missile attacks from Gaza while one resident of the coastal city of Ashkelon was killed by a direct hit on his house Monday night…

The victim appeared to be a Palestinian Arab, 48, from the Hebron area who was only found dead hours after police and the fire brigade arrived at the scene of the devastating blast which destroyed an entire building.

The lead up to what could be the third Gaza war began this weekend when a Palestinian terrorist from Gaza infiltrated an Israeli community in the vicinity of the security fence and set ablaze a greenhouse before being arrested by Israeli security forces.

The incident was followed by a shoot-out between an elite undercover unit of the IDF and members of Hamas’ military wing Izz-a-Din al-Qassam in the area of the Palestinian town of Khan Younis in Gaza on Sunday night.

The secret intelligence-gathering operation went awry when members of Izz-a-Din al-Qassam spotted the IDF unit and tried to stop the private car they were traveling with.

In the ensuing shoot-out, 7 Hamas terrorists were killed, among them Nour Barakeh, a Qassam Brigade commander who reportedly was in charge with Hamas’ terror tunnel project and served as the commander of Hamas’ regional battalion in Khan Younis..

The Israeli PM, who on Sunday said he would do his utmost to prevent a humanitarian disaster in Gaza and allowed Qatar to deliver $15 million in cash to the impoverished enclave, immediately started consultations with the top of the IDF after arriving in Israel.

Hamas, meanwhile, used the funeral of the 7 slain terrorists to ignite the Palestinian street and organized a mass demonstration against “the occupation”.”

What will it be like to live in?
Will it be democratic?
How will it treat religions other than Muslim?
What will its attitude be towards Israel?
How will it treat gays, lesbians and cross genders?
Will it allow building of places of worship that are not Mosques?
What will its policy be towards refugees?
Will it have a free press?
Which of its Arab ‘brother’ states will it model itself on?
Who will be its allies?
With whom will it trade?
What will it trade?

A result of all the research I have conducted, from everything I have read and all that I understand to be spoken by President Abbas and from Khaled Mashal this state will probably not be the nicest of places to live in. Additionally, from current evidence it certainly won’t be democratic as both the PA and Hamas are currently well past their constitutional sell by dates. Furthermore the PA have declared that their state will be a no-go area for Jews and that they will never recognize Israel as the Jewish homeland.

Pharaoh’s Daughter Adopts Moses
biblegateway.com
“2 A man from Levi’s family married a Levite woman. 2 The woman became pregnant and had a son. She saw how beautiful he was and hid him for three months. 3 When she couldn’t hide him any longer, she took a basket made of papyrus plants and coated it with tar and pitch. She put the baby in it and set it among the papyrus plants near the bank of the Nile River. 4 The baby’s sister stood at a distance to see what would happen to him.

5 While Pharaoh’s daughter came to the Nile to take a bath, her servants walked along the bank of the river. She saw the basket among the papyrus plants and sent her slave girl to get it. 6 Pharaoh’s daughter opened the basket, looked at the baby, and saw it was a boy. He was crying, and she felt sorry for him. She said, “This is one of the Hebrew children.”

7 Then the baby’s sister asked Pharaoh’s daughter, “Should I go and get one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you?”

8 She answered, “Yes!” So the girl brought the baby’s mother.

9 Pharaoh’s daughter said to the woman, “Take this child, nurse him for me, and I will pay you.”

She took the child and nursed him. 10 When the child was old enough, she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. Pharaoh’s daughter named him Moses [Pulled Out] and said, “I pulled him out of the water.”..”

It is the Gospel of Matthew that highlights this more than any other Gospel, emphasizing that Jesus taught his new commandments of love in his Sermon on the Mount, echoing Moses’ receiving of the Law on Mount Sinai. For Christians, then, Moses is a crucial figure because Jesus fulfills the Law that Moses brought down from the mountain. It is no coincidence that, when Jesus’ is transfigured on the mountaintop, Moses and Elijah appear with him. Moses symbolizes the Law and Elijah symbolizes the prophets. “.. The Bible says that the Israelites built Raamses, and since Ramesses the second, who began his rule around 1290 B.C., built a royal city named Pi-Ramesses, many just assume him to be the pharaoh of the Exodus.
But the Bible never specifically identifies the pharaoh of the Exodus by name, although it does tell us the exact date of the Exodus.
1Kings 6:1 states that Solomon began building the Temple in the fourth year of his reign, 480 years after the Exodus. The temple was started in 1012 B.C., which was derived by adding up ..

The calculation is as follows: Total reign of the Judean kings & Solomon = 434 years x 360 day Biblical year/365= 428 years + 587 B.C. = 1015 B.C. the beginning of Solomon’s reign. The temple was started in the 4th year of his reign which would be 1012 B.C.
Bishop Usher also calculated 1012 B.C. in his work “Annals of the World” way back in 1650 A.D.
So the approximate date of the Exodus can be calculated: 1012 + (480 x 360 day Biblical year/365) = 1486 B.C. And according to history, Pharaoh Ramesses did not begin his reign until around 1290 B.C., so he couldn’t have been the Exodus pharaoh….
The interesting thing about Avaris was that it was a major city of the “shepherd kings” whom some refer to as “Hyskos” while others refer to them as “Asiatics.” You see Joseph brought his father Jacob and his brothers, who were shepherds, into the land of Egypt and they were given the land of Goshen in which to raise their flocks. Pharaoh also made them the chief herdsman over all his livestock.
They basically were allowed to live independently in Goshen as subject to Joseph, who was second only to Pharaoh. After Joseph died this arrangement continued. Israel had their own rulers in the land of Goshen subject only to Pharaoh. And the capital of their kings appeared to be the supply city of Avaris, which later became part of Raamses…”

Their name, Heqau-khasut, translates as ‘Rulers of Foreign Lands’ (given by the Greeks as Hyksos), suggesting to some scholars that they were kings or nobility driven from their homes by invasion who found refuge in the port city of Avaris and managed to establish a strong power base during the decline of the 13th Dynasty of the Middle Kingdom (2040-1782 BCE). Most likely, they were traders who were at first welcomed at Avaris, prospered, and sent word to their friends and neighbors to come join them, resulting in a large population which was able to finally exert political and then military power…”

“.. The Bible also says in Psalm 136:13-15: “To him who divided the Red Sea asunder, and brought Israel through the midst of it, but swept Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea.”
These passages seem to indicate that Pharaoh was killed during this event…

“.. Unlike Hatshepsut and Thutmose III who said no Asiatic remained in Egypt, Thutmose I indicates the Hebrews were still in the land during his life. He states: “He who smites the Nubians and overthrows the Asiatics . . . From the marshes of Kebeh (near Heliopolis) to Elephantine. The sand dwellers bore their tribute like that made from the south (Ethiopia) and that of the North (Asiatics/Hebrews).” ..”

“.. Thutmose I also had a son by the name of Amenmose who was his eldest son and designated heir to his throne. Yet he predeceased his father, possibly in the firstborn plague. He also had another daughter named Nefrubity who also seems to have died very young. This and the fact that the mummy, of what was once identified as Thutmose I, is no longer considered to be his, gives a high probability that he is the Exodus pharaoh. For if his mummy is missing, this could possibly account for his death in the Red sea, while the mummies of all the other pharaohs who lived during the Exodus time frame have been found..”

Now You Know: Chronological Timeline of Passover and it’s Significance

Passover – Ten Commandments

“Uploaded on Apr 16, 2008
This is a montage I found on http://www.tsofar.com/zofar/mashtap/s… and wanted you all to see. It shows us how much G-d loves us. He didn’t do these miracles for any other nation! We should think about that at the Pesach (Passover) Seder. Happy Passover!

What is Passover – Important History and Christian Traditions Russ Jones ChristianPress.com crosswalk.com
“.. In many circles there appears to be an increasing interest in the Jewish roots of the Christian faith. This Easter season numerous congregations across the globe will hold a “Passover Haggadah” or more traditionally known as a “Seder” to gain a greater understanding of the Christian – Jewish relationship. To understand more about the holiday of Passover and how Christians can meaningfully celebrate it today, let’s dig into the history and traditions.
A Brief Passover History

Passover is the oldest and most important religious festival in Judaism, commemorating God’s deliverance of the Hebrews from slavery in Egypt and His creation of the Israelite people.

The festival of Passover begins at sunset on the 14th of Nisan (usually in March or April) and marks the beginning of a seven day celebration which includes the Feast of Unleavened Bread. The highlight of Passover is a communal meal, called the Seder (which means “order,” because of the fixed order of service), which is a time to rejoice and celebrate the deliverance for the Hebrews that God accomplished through the exodus.

Deep Thought: Are all “sins” equal?

Are all sins equal to God? Is all sin the same? gotquestions.org
“..So, although Jesus said that lust and adultery are both sins, that does not mean they are equal. It is much worse to actually murder a person than it is to simply hate a person, even though they are both sins in God’s sight. There are degrees to sin. Some sins are worse than others. At the same time, in regard to both eternal consequences and salvation, all sins are the same. Every sin will lead to eternal condemnation (Romans 6:23). All sin, no matter how “small,” is against an infinite and eternal God, and is therefore worthy of an infinite and eternal penalty. Further, there is no sin too “big” that God cannot forgive it. Jesus died to pay the penalty for sin (1 John 2:2). Jesus died for all of our sins (2 Corinthians 5:21). Are all sins equal to God? Yes and no. In severity? No. In penalty? Yes. In forgivability? Yes.

All Sins Are Not Equal J.I. Packer/ DECEMBER 28, 2004 christianitytoday.com
“..Scripture shows that in God’s estimate some sins are worse and bring greater guilt than others, and that some sins do us more damage. Moses rates the golden calf debacle a great sin (Ex. 32:30)….

… Ezekiel in his horrific allegory says that after Oholah (Samaria) had ruined herself by unfaithfulness to God, Oholibah (Jerusalem) “became more corrupt … in her lust and in her whoring, which was worse than that of her sister” (Ezek. 23:11, ESV). John distinguishes sins that do and do not inevitably lead to death (1 John 5:16), picking up Jesus’ warning about the unforgivable sin (Mk. 3:28-30).

Unforgiveable sin?

What is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? bibleinfo.com
“…Is there a sin that cannot be forgiven?
Yes, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, is any sin that a person clings to by continually resisting the convicting power of the Holy Spirit. Keep in mind that there is not one specific sin that is unforgivable, such as lying, stealing or murder, but rather a perpetual hardening of the heart and willfully sinning against God and man (1 Timothy 4:2; Titus 1:15). In Acts 7:51, Stephen says the following to the Pharisees, “You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.” In a nutshell the unpardonable sin is any sin that a person doesn’t want to give up, confess, or even ask forgiveness for and additionally doesn’t want to hear any more about it from the Holy Spirit…”

Lead to “death”?

What is the sin that leads to death, or the sin unto death, that John talks about? compellingtruth.org
“..Many interpretations exist regarding this “sin that leads to death.” Unfortunately, the text is not clear what this “sin” is. It does appear clear John wrote to believers and was speaking of physical death. For example, Ananias and Sapphira experienced physical death for their sin (Acts 5). In 1 Corinthians 11:30, Paul wrote concerning wrongful practice of the Lord’s Supper, “That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died.”

There is Sin that Leads to Death

1 John 5:14-21

by Cooper Abrams bible-truth.org
“…c. The unpardonable sin is in context a part of the dispensation of the Law. It is a specific sin of blasphemy, in which a person would credit the devil for the work of the Holy Spirit. The special circumstances involved in blasphemy can not be duplicated today. The Scribes and Pharisees committed this sin in attributing the work of Jesus to the Devil. (see Matthew 12:24, Mark 3:22, Luke 11:15)

After selling some land, they decided to give the church PART of the proceeds but make it seem that they were donating the entire amount of the sale. The apostle Peter, however, saw through their mutually agreed ruse. After confronting each one separately regarding their sin, they both immediately died (Acts 5:1 – 10).

After finding chariot parts in the Gulf of Aquaba, Ron Wyatt wondered if Mount Sinai could be in Saudi Arabia. In Galatians 4:25 the Bible states that Mount Sinai is in Arabia, “For this Agar is Mount Sinai in ARABIA.” The Bible says Mount Sinai is in Midian, and this area has always been known as Midian. Still to this day it is called, “Madyan”. After being denied a visa Ron entered the country without one on foot. He made his way to ‘Jebel el Lawz’, known by the locals as “Jebel Musa” (Moses’ mountain) which his research showed could have fitted the biblical description of Mount Sinai.

Another remarkable find was discovered in the area. A massive split boulder, sixty foot high, forty foot wide, forty foot wide and twenty foot deep, sitting on top of a rocky hill. Is there an account in the Bible that talks of such a rock? “Behold I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink.” Exodus 17:6.. Moses had led the people across the desert to Mount Sinai, and they were now complaining because they had no water. It was for this reason that God commanded Moses to strike this rock, that God could manifest His power to perform miracles, and cause water to flow from this rock.
