What’s your personal story? Was it due to divorce?

The 10 Most Common Reasons People Get Divorced headshot By YourTango huffingtonpost.com
“..communication problems came out on top as the number one reason marriages fail. Here are some other culprits our experts blame for the high divorce rate.

1. Getting in for the wrong reasons.

Marrying for money — we’ve all heard that that is a ticket to a quick divorce, but what about when you marry because it’s what you think you should do?

I’ve met many divorced women who say the problems that made them leave were there right from the beginning but “everyone expected us to live happily ever after” or “we had already spent so much money on the wedding” or “we had just built our dream home.” So, remember, until you say “I do,” you always have the choice to say “I don’t!” ..”

Absent Dad

The Consequences of the Absent Dad allprodad.com
“…This is an encouragement to educate and to motivate men to hear the call to battle on behalf of their children. We understand all the obstacles that are set up against you. While there may be obstacles, the consequences to the children remain. Only their dad can change the odds. Some of those consequences are increased chances of depression, behavioral issues, insecurity, bad grades, and higher dropout rates. Both boys and girls are equally susceptible. The natural order of the family is for the man to have authority (not power) to lead and when that authority is abdicated, a vacuum is created that will certainly be filled elsewhere. ..

“..“I can so identify with where LeBron is coming from,” says Kenneth Braswell, executive director of Fathers Incorporated. “I am a black man whose pent-up rage for my absent father drove me to do what I believed to be the right thing, for the right reason and with the right justification. Then I found out it was all wrong.”

Braswell believes, and research concurs, that there are hundreds of thousands of boys and men in America harboring pain and anger as a result of father absence…”

From father-daughter comedies to heartbreaking art films and classic dad-bait action thrillers, here are the best movies that celebrate dads.

There are so many Disney movies in which a mother is the key parental figure, but this jungle-set Hamlet adaptation is a heart-wrencher for the tragic loss of Simba’s father, Mufasa. It is impossible to watch the stampede scene without fully sobbing—a great Father’s Day activity if you ask me. But it won’t be a downer all the way through: Hakuna Matata will get you through….

“..Brown played John Kinsella, a former minor league player and late father of Ray Kinsella, played by Kevin Costner. The two never reconciled after a rift when Ray was 17. They argued over the guilt or innocence of John’s idol, Shoeless Joe Jackson, one of eight White Sox players accused of throwing the 1919 World Series in a gambling deal, in what became known as the Black Sox Scandal.

Now an adult, Ray is the novice farmer who heard a voice saying the movie’s other famous tagline, “If you build it, he will come.” Believing the “he” to be Jackson, Ray builds the ball diamond, against all the warnings that he’d go bankrupt tearing up the cornfield.

Spoiler alert: At the movie’s end, Ray discovers the “he” actually refers to his father, who has emerged with the other ghost players for a game there. After an awkward meeting between father and son, as John turns to disappear back into what’s left of the cornfield, Ray mends their broken hearts with a simple invitation: “Hey, Dad? You wanna have a catch?”

“..His dad switched from a razor strap to a wooden paddle halfway through the beating.

Bart Millard, only 8 or 9, was terrified.

He’d been beaten before, often. But this time was different…

Millard’s dad wasn’t always a monster. In fact, Arthur Wesley Millard Jr. was a beloved high school football hero, one of only two All-Americans from his rural Texas town of Greeneville, about 45 miles northeast of Dallas.

Everyone called him “Bub,” and even though he was a big bear of a guy, he was more teddy than grizzly.

Until the accident.

While flagging cars for the Texas highway department, Arthur Millard got hit by a diesel truck, a collision that put him in a coma for eight weeks…

Sal: After reading the article above and watching the movie awhile ago, I connected the two and maybe his dad’s car accident played a part on his dad’s abusive behavior. I watched a video from Dr. Phil on how this husband was very “rude” to his wife, and they found out there was something that had to deal with his brain (injury before). This is a lesson about the importance of “understanding” one another.

In addition to being an active duty officer in the Air Force special operations, Damon serves as Executive Producer for “Surrender”, a faith-based film that follows true-life stories of six elite combat warriors representing four branches of the US Special Operations Command. The docudrama highlights these challenges and shares messages of hope and purpose to those who are suffering with post-traumatic stress and brings awareness to the suicide epidemic among veterans. Every 65 minutes a warrior commits suicide. “They believe that life no longer has meaning,” shares Damon. The film, an outreach of SOF Missions, gives viewers a glimpse of the powerful events that enable the story’s heroes to find strength and a path away from personal destruction to the One who heals both heart and soul. The backgrounds, branches of service, and personal experiences of each hero are vastly different, yet their personal pain is common to many—even to some outside of the service. The film reveals how God led each person to the point of fully surrendering to Him. To purchase the DVD go http://www.sofmissions.com/shop. In 2017, the DVD will be available on Amazon and iTunes.

Workplace Conflict : How To Resolve Conflict in Workplace – YouTube

Sal: I’ve encountered “conflict” in my various workplaces directly and indirectly. One time at my job working at Taco Bell (fast food), I was accused of stealing money. I was furious when my shift manager told me to go home until this was resolved. I would later get a call that he caught a co-worker stealing money from him, which she admitted “framing” (she planted a $20 bill in my back pack that I used to change clothes) me. I would never find out why she did this, but have speculations. I was giving my job back and this other co-worker was fired.

Another conflict that I was “indirectly” involved and became a somewhat “peacemaker”. A co-worker had been working his second job and was getting burned out. He took his frustration at this current job and he started to argue with our boss. The boss got a little “heated” and I intervened to voluntarily do a certain job my boss was requesting from this co-worker. During “work” awhile after, my co-worker started to just share his gathered thoughts and realized he should not have done this. During our deep conversation, we were “distracted” with a work-related issue. However, I was going to try to tell my co-worker to confront our boss and ask for forgiveness. Well, this “workplace conflict” got resolved at a staff meeting later on, so my prayers were answered..praise the Lord!

Story of a New Creation

jamieW

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”2 Corinthians 5:17

Above is a beautiful sister-in-Christ name Jamie W. from Pennsylvania. I met her through an online chat community in mid-June and she shared an amazing testimony on how our Heavenly Father  can make a “new creation”. Her story started before she came to this world as an infant. Her mom was about to abort her because of a health medical issue, but circumstances changed that as God hand another plan. She was born premature and survived!

“I was born blind had a heart murmur leading to surgery and my brain was not fully developed as most kids should be. In school I struggled and could not be in regular classes, but IEP classes (meaning Individual Educational Plan). I graduated from those classes at the age of 15 at the top of my class and could soon attend classes with regular kids. I was so happy for myself and thanked God. I just want people to know that whatever storm you go through in life there is a God and His son Jesus Christ and they will never harm you or leave you but Love you even harder and for people to never give up.”-Jamie

What would you do as a mother if you found out the baby your carrying in your womb has a birth defect? What would you do?

Good News Life

God had a plan for her, which she ended up coming out to this world as a gift to the people around her. That wasn’t the only barrier in her life that she faced. At a young age, she was raped by an individual…

“…well before I was raped I was saving myself for my future husband. I prayed that I would wait to be intimate with someone until I married. But being raped at 18 shattered everything. I was than depressed, felt ashamed, and unworthy. I did really bad in school and could not hold any friendships or relationships. I kept meeting the wrong guys and putting myself in bad relationships that were not healthy just physically abusive and verbally. I felt the lowest when it came to my family and felt like I let my family down. I started doing drugs and drinking. The other thing that made me not just end it all and commit suicide was the love of God and just not giving up on life because I did not want to disappoint God. I always loved God but kept going into a downward spiral. Still attending church and still reading and praying asking God to heal me and forgive me.”

What is it like to be raped? How do you deal with it?

Good News Abused

“My first husband Quay was abusive and killed my pet dog and cat he also cheated on me I was young and naive I was 19 at the time and knew I have to leave and get out. I divorced him feeling like I failed in life again.

I than started working a lot with the elderly and kids as well and that filled a void in my heart so much because I knew I was helping others but deep down in side I was screaming for more help. Help for me.”

This obstacle in life didn’t stopped her as she continued to live her life for His glory.

“Than at 25 I met my husband Vincent and we both clicked immediately. He came from a dysfunctional home and was adopted, so I could feel his pain. I never knew my real dad as my mom left him when i was 3, so I could feel his pain. I knew Vincent was a blessing from God and we both helped each other in our healing process.”

Jamie’s story is one of many out there that God is not finish with yet. There still will be challenges for her and others walking in faith, but with the fellowship of the bigger family in Christ we will finish the “race” in this life as we all look forward to eternity. Please feel free to share your comments or personal stories down below to encourage each there-knowing we are not alone in this “battle”!
