Deep Thought: Why is the Bible so “contradictory” or is it?

Does the Bible Contradict Itself?, October 3rd, 2012 By Robert A. Ratcliff ministrymatters.com
“..So, does the Bible contradict itself? In one sense, of course it does. The Bible is not one book after all, it is a library of books gathered, compiled, composed, and edited over the course of centuries. That one book or passage should disagree, even substantially, with another is only inevitable.

But in another sense we can say that when the Bible is contradicting itself it is at the same time conversing with itself. One text speaks to another, challenging it, probing it, shedding new light upon it. The internal conversation going on in Scripture creates some of the Bible’s most important messages. If the Bible speaks the word of God (and I believe it does), then it is above all a dynamic word. The truth of Scripture is not static; it is changing, it is growing, and where there is growth there is usually friction….”

Does the Bible Contradict Itself?- How to think about differences in scripture By Preston Sprinkle April 20, 2015 relevantmagazine.com
“Most people answer this question either with an adamant “Yes!” or passionate “No!” Too often, though, both sides fail to understand or represent the other side. Not everyone who says that the Bible contains contradictions is an angry, arrogant, card-carrying atheist. And not everyone who believes there aren’t any contradictions is a backwoods, unscientific, raging fundamentalist with his head in the sand…

What “Contradictions” Look Like

First, it’s important to distinguish between contradiction and difference. Just because two passages are different, doesn’t mean they contradict each other. For example, Matthew 27:5 says that Judas hung himself, while Acts 1:18 says that he fell to the ground and burst wide open. These are two different accounts of Judas’ death, but they are not formal contradictions. A contradiction would be one passages saying, “Judas hung himself and died” and another passage saying, “Judas didn’t hang himself; rather, he threw himself from cliff and splattered on the ground.”..

Answering for the Bible

…For instance, for the longest time critics laughed at the blatant error in Daniel 5:1, where Belshazzar is named king of Babylon. Every historian knew that Nabonidus was the king at this time, not some guy named Balshazzar. That is, until archaeologists discovered an inscription known as the “Persian Verse Account of Nabonidus,” where it says that Nabonidus went away for a long journey during this time and left the kingdom in the hands of—you guessed it—his son Balshazzar. Contradiction solved…

Violent?

4 Responses to the Problem of Violence in the Bible February 6, 2015 by John Dickson
….4. You must read the narrative through the lens of the New Testament.
“This is the most important response to the problem of Old Testament violence. Christians are forbidden to read Joshua as a justification for modern war, for Jesus said to love your enemies (Matthew 5:44) and turn the other cheek (Matthew 5:39). That doesn’t mean wars are never justified — they can be, on other grounds. My point here is that we cannot achieve God’s kingdom ends through violence.
This is not picking and choosing which bits of the Bible we like and don’t like. It is how Christians have always read the Bible as two testaments. Like a ‘prism’ that causes light to refract into the full spectrum, the life, teaching, death, and resurrection of Jesus transforms many things — including circumcision, food laws, and holy war. For Christians, the only holy war the Bible endorses is the spiritual one Paul mentions in Ephesians 6: the fight against error and sin….”

“The underlying theme behind our ‘Glimpses of Truth’ series is the idea that before we had the full revelation of God in Jesus, people only caught glimpses of him. He showed himself, but like the sun on a cloudy day, people’s view was obscured by their culture, so what they saw was not the full revelation but one marred by their own expectations and fallenness.

But despite this, there were still a few instances in the Old Testament where we can see glimpses of the Christ-like God that we know..”

Why does God kill innocent people in the Old Testament but commands us not to do so? In doing so, does this not make God both a murderer and a hypocrite? Why does God kills and order His people to kill entire nations including babies and seemingly innocent people? Why does God kill is one of the questions that atheists will use to suggest that God is not good. This video gives 6 reasons why God kills innocent people in the Old Testament.

Islam Perspective

Verses of Violence: Comparing the Bible and Quran
9:30AM EST 12/16/2015 Michael Brown charismanews.com
“…How can anyone compare the two?

Jesus is called the Lamb of God in numerous texts, speaking of His sacrificial death on the cross, and He is worshipped by Christians as the Lamb who was slain. Do Muslims commonly think of Muhammad in those terms?

The issue here is not whether it’s appropriate for Christians to defend themselves against terrorist attacks or whether Christians should serve in the military.

The issue is that the early Christians were killed for their faith rather than killing others for their faith. The early Muslims did, in fact, kill others for their faith, and many have continued to do so through the centuries.

So, when a Christian is killed by a radical Muslim for refusing to deny his faith, both the Christian and the Muslim can point to their leaders—Jesus and Muhammad—and say, “I am following the example of my leader,” one by being killed for his faith, the other by killing for his faith.

I’m quite aware of ugly aspects of Church history, including the violence of the Crusades (in particular, against European Jews who were not part of the military conflict between Christians and Muslims), but examples such as this prove the larger point: They are horrific exceptions to the rule and they are without New Testament support…”

Flying Hijacked Planes into Glass Houses TheReligionofPeace.com Presents

“…Strategic omission is just one way that Muslim apologists manipulate Biblical passages. (In this case, The American Muslim editors did not even include an ellipsis in place of the omission, since it may have raised the suspicions of the reader).

The next passage that The American Muslim claims promotes violence is from the apostle Paul, who writes:

“Hymenaeus and Alexander I have delivered to Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme.” (1Timothy 1:20)

The violence in the passage is not exactly evident from this reading. In the context of the previous verse, these two men “suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith,” but there is nothing to indicate that they were physically harmed as a result. It was the practice of the early Church to excommunicate apostates, and there is every reason to believe that this was the “fate” of these two individuals. They were expelled from the Church by Paul. The Christian Church does not advocate killing apostates.

Contrast this with the words of Muhammad:

“Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.'” (Bukhari 84:57)

Not much ambiguity there. Abu Bakr, the first caliph and several other Muslims testified that Muhammad had indeed put Muslim apostates to death. For this reason, the practice is coded in Islamic law.

The next passage that is supposed to inspire Christians to violence is the recounting of David’s victory against the Philistines:

Sexist?

Is the Bible sexist against women? from comereason.org
“Hi Paul,

I do not believe God is “against” women. The passage to which you are referring is 1 Timothy 2:12, “But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.” On its face, this may seem a sexist position. Why can’t women teach? Aren’t they as knowledgeable as men? Aren’t they as smart? This line of thinking takes the passage out of context, though.

The above passage (along with several others) is meant to set down the structure of leadership in the church as an organized body. Before I go into detail on this, let me first explain what it is not saying. Warren Wiersbe gives us a great account of how the New Testament approaches women.(1)

The Bible does not say that a woman cannot teach a man about Christ. Priscilla, along with her husband, taught Apollos the way of God more accurately (Acts 18:26).
It does not say women cannot exercise spiritual gifts. The four daughters of Philli…”

Good Question: Why Don’t Police Just Try To Hurt Suspects?
November 24, 2015 10:43 PM By Heather Brown minnesota.cbslocal.com
“MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Over the past week, WCCO has devoted significant coverage to officer-involved shootings — from the death of Jamar Clark a week and half ago to a Columbia Heights man early Tuesday morning.

That had Sherri from Buffalo Lake and Fitz from Excelsior wanting to know: Why don’t police just try to hurt suspects? Good Question.

“They’re not really trained to shoot to kill, they’re trained to stop the threat, which often results in death,” says Dale Burns, a Hennepin Technical College teacher of police training programs for the state of Minnesota.

Burns says officers are trained to shoot at the chest, or center mass of a person’s body, because it is the biggest target and will stop someone if he or she gets hit.

“They could’ve shot him in his arm or leg, tased him, but kill him?” asked Jamie Castilla on Tuesday after her brother was killed by police. “That’s a shot to kill.”

Shooting at a hand or arm is very hard to do, says Burns. Research from the Force Science Institute shows hands and arms can be the fastest moving body parts. Shooting at a person’s legs can also leave their hands free.

“If I could see their hand perfectly and they were holding still and I had lots of time to aim, sure — but it doesn’t work that way. It’s very fluid. It happens extremely fast,” Burns said. “If you miss, you’re probably going to get killed, or shot yourself, or stabbed, or clubbed — whatever the case may be.”

Minnesota law allows officers to use deadly force to protect themselves or someone else from death or great bodily harm. Defense attorney Joe Tamburino says police are legally able to use more force than the average person.

“The reviewing party has to decide from the perspective of a reasonable police officer on the scene if there was a threat,” he says.

In 2012, lawmakers in New York proposed legislation that would require officers to shoot at limbs, but that bill was quickly tabled. Over the past three decades, the Supreme Court has ruled police can use deadly force if they believe there’s a threat of death or serious physical injury.

“They got tasers, other things around them, why are guns the first option?” asked Deondre Lowe of Minneapolis.

Burns says tasers don’t always work, especially in Minnesota where people wear lots of layers of clothes. He also points out a taser takes a relatively long time to reload if it doesn’t work the first time.

“They do use tasers quite a bit, but if you use a taser in a deadly force situation, you’re asking an officers to take on a lot of risk that they shouldn’t be expected to do,” he said.”

Planting “Fake” Evidence?

Baltimore Police Officer Accidentally Records Himself Planting Drugs At Crime Scene
Latifah Muhammad,Vibe Thu, Jul 20 11:08 AM PDT yahoo.com
“An officer from the Baltimore Police department accidentally recorded himself planting evidence. On Wednesday (July 19), Baltimore’s Fox 45 published footage of the officer hiding drugs at a crime scene without realizing that his body-worn camera caught him in the act.

In the recording, which was captured in January, officer Richard Pinheiro and two other officers, can be seen in an ally on the side of a house. The body camera appears to capture Pinheiro hiding a bag of pills under a heap of trash, while the two other officers stand behind him.

The cops head back to the sidewalk, at which point Pinheiro turns on his body camera. But as VOX notes, body cams can record up to 30 seconds of footage before being manually activated.

“I’m going to check here,” Pinheiro is heard telling the other officers before heading to the back of the house where he pretends to rummage through the trash heap. After a few second, he uncovers the bag and alerts the other officers.

Armed white supremacists threaten protesters at 4th precinct shutdown

By Susan Du

Friday, November 20, 2015 | 1 day ago citypages.com
“…Thursday night, two guys wearing camo with their faces covered arrived at the precinct to film. They went up to a livestreamer with Unicorn Riot and stated they were curious about how the protest was going.

“I don’t know if this is what [protesters] were planning, just standing here,” one of the white supremacists said. “It’s almost as if they expect one of us to do something. They expect one of us to be in the wreckage of all this. It’s boiling. It’s going to be happening soon.”
..”

Later, Black Lives Matter discovered a video that the two men filmed en route to the 4th precinct from Uptown. It shows one brandishing a gun. “We’re gonna go see what these fucking dindus are up to,” he said. “We’re going to knock this shit out… a little reverse-cultural enriching. Let the fire rise.”

Thankfully, that bravado didn’t translate into action once they got to the protest. The guys and other cyber anons have been posting on their own thread that they might return Friday night in larger numbers, however, packing to agitate what they’ve termed the “chimpout.”

Police spokesman Scott Seroka says that MPD is aware of the threat to protesters.

“The Minneapolis Police Department has received information that a group may attempt to cause a disturbance this evening in front of the Police Department’s 4th Precinct,” he wrote in a statement. “We are asking gathered demonstrators to be vigilant and report any actions that may seem out of the ordinary. If anyone notices something suspicious, please contact a nearby officer or call 9-1-1. A physical description, clothing description, and/or vehicle description is helpful. Also, please report any ‘out of the ordinary’ actions you have observed.”

Earlier this week, some protesters were also criticized for fueling tensions by throwing bricks and Molotov cocktails, spraying mace, and challenging cops to shoot at them. Black Lives Matter organizers worked to de-escalate potential violence by linking arms and using their bodies to cordon upset protesters off from police.

“We understand the frustration of community members who may take actions not sanctioned by our group; this is a time of grief and rage and we remain committed to nonviolent direct action,” BLM said in a statement. “As has always been the case, our members remained committed to peaceful protest even in the face of growing escalation.”

Five people were shot near Black Lives Matter protest site m.startribune.com
“.Five protesters were shot late Monday night near the Black Lives Matter encampment at the Fourth Precinct police station in north Minneapolis, according to police.

Those who were shot sustained non-life-threatening injuries, said police spokesman John Elder in a statement.

Miski Noor, a media contact for Black Lives Matter, said “a group of white supremacists showed up at the protest, as they have done most nights.”

One of the three men wore a mask, said Dana Jaehnert, who had been at the protest site since early evening.

When about a dozen protesters attempted to herd the group away from the area, Noor said, they “opened fire on about six protesters,” hitting five of them. Jaehnert said she heard four gunshots…”

Minnesota NAACP leader shocks CNN: Police are ‘behind’ the Black Lives Matter shooting DAVID EDWARDS
24 NOV 2015 AT 15:52 ET rawstory.com
” Raeisha Williams, communications chair of the Minneapolis NAACP, told CNN that members of law enforcement were “behind” the Monday night shooting of Black Lives Matter protesters.

During an interview on Tuesday, CNN host Brooke Baldwin asked Williams to react to breaking news that two men had been arrested in connection to shootings that injured at least five people who were protesting the killing of Jamar Clark.

“We’re hearing two [arrests] at this time,” Williams explained. “But we don’t necessarily trust that. We know that the police department is behind this, this is our personal belief after receiving witness accounts.”

“Wait, wait, wait,” Baldwin interrupted. “You said you believe the police department is behind what?”

“We believe the police department is facilitating the injustice, bullying the protesters,” Williams replied. “And we also believe that they’re involved in this shooting. We know from blackboards and chat rooms and also videos that we have posted on our website that police that are from different counties, police from different districts have come down to entice the protesters, have come down to bully the protesters.”

Baldwin, who was broadcasting from Paris, noted that Williams had made “serious allegations” on national television.

“And we are standing behind it, we do not back down from these allegations,” Williams insisted.

“Where is your evidence that they were involved in the shooting?” Baldwin pressed.

According to Williams, police were “lurking” near the shooting and then refused to provide help to the injured protesters.

“This is what you’ve been wanting,” she recalled one of the officers saying.

“It took 15 minutes for the police to even arrive and shortly after that, they began to Mace the crowd,” Williams said. “So if you’re not part of the problem, if this is not something you’re trying to cover up, why would you not attend to victims who paid for your salaries?”

Williams said that her group had “video evidence of an undercover cop getting into an unmarked car.”

“We believe — and we stand behind our belief — that the Minneapolis Police Department is not protecting us and therefore they stand with racist white supremacists who want to destroy a peaceful movement,” she concluded.

Jamar Clark Side

-Who is Jamar?

Family of Jamar Clark said he Tried to Escape Troubled Past Updated: 11/20/2015 4:34 PM kstp.com
“..Family members and friends say the 24-year-old was on the right track in the months leading up to the shooting early Sunday. He cared deeply about his parents – biological and adoptive – and his 14 siblings, and had a job and hopes of going to college.

But police union representatives point to Clark’s criminal history as proof that he was a bad actor, and they contend he was reaching for an officer’s gun when he was shot. Beyond the domestic assault call alleging Clark had hurt his girlfriend that brought police to the north Minneapolis neighborhood, he spent three years in and out of prison for a robbery conviction. More recently, he was on probation for threatening to burn down an ex-girlfriend’s house after a bitter break-up and was awaiting trial for a July arrest for fleeing police in a high-speed chase.

Black Lives Matter protesters outside the police precinct insist Clark was handcuffed before he was shot, which police dispute. His death laid bare the tension between Minneapolis’ black community and law enforcement and, the protesters say, exposed deeply embedded societal problems that made Clark’s history impossible to move past.

“None of our children deserve to be shot and killed, and then talked about like they are animals,” said Bettie Smith, who joined protesters Monday to discuss her son’s death in a 2008 officer-involved shooting.

Amid federal and state investigations into Clark’s death, several family members declined to talk with The Associated Press and 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS. Wilma and James Clark, who adopted Jamar Clark when he was 4, acknowledged his legal trouble in an interview with MPR News but said he was fixing it.

“He was trying to do right. He was trying to turn his life around,” James Clark said.

Clark spent much of his 20s in and out of prison, serving a three-year sentence for a first-degree robbery conviction in 2010. He had been convicted of a petty misdemeanor for possessing a small amount of marijuana in 2009.

In a letter on behalf of one of the officers involved in the shooting, an attorney and Minneapolis police union president Bob Kroll listed some of his past crimes, saying Clark was “not a peaceful, law-abiding citizen.”

But when Tim Hoag and his wife hired Clark earlier this year – first to help out with painting and cleanup at their rental homes, then at Hoag’s moving and trucking company – Hoag said they found an energetic yet polite young man, a hard and trustworthy worker with a bright personality and a “million-dollar smile.”

Hoag also saw that Clark couldn’t escape the trouble from his past: the familiar signs of a felon recently released from prison, struggling to get his footing. At times he couldn’t afford bus fare for work and struggled with stable housing. Hoag put him up at a motel for a few days to help out, and gave him as many hours of work at Copeland Trucking as he could, helping in the warehouse or on moves.

Clark was ashamed of his past, he said. Hoag was sure he could move past it, maybe to become a full-time truck driver for the company.

“Jamar was a troubled youth that was put into the correction system. The system failed miserably,” Hoag said. “He didn’t know what he wanted to do. He needed to earn money,”

Tiffany Truitt saw two sides of Clark in the few months last winter they dated. When things were going well, he was a nurturing, loving man who was drawn to her four children, giving them advice and helping them sell candy for school.

“He was always talking about family. He wanted a family,” Truitt said. “He cared about his family being connected with each other. He cared about having somebody care about him.”

But when their relationship soured, she saw a man who snapped while gathering his things from her house after the breakup. He threw a brick through Truitt’s window and threatened to burn her apartment unit down – leaving behind a trail of lighter fluid to prove it, according to court documents. Clark pleaded guilty to terroristic threats for the March incident, getting a probation sentence and an order not to contact Truitt.

Despite the order, Clark eventually reached out through Facebook to apologize – and Truitt accepted. He was going to sign up for community college, he told her.

He had a good heart but he didn’t have the structure to be the person he wanted to be, Truitt said.

“He was trying to learn,” she said. “He was looking for direction.”

As pictures of Clark circulated online after his death, Hoag saw Clark’s sly grin in a selfie, wearing his Copeland Trucking hat. Hoag let out a sigh pierced with pain.

“It makes me feel like a failure,” he said of that photo. “I’m sitting here wishing I had done more. I wish I had made one more phone call. I wish we would have been able to give him a few more hours.”

In recent years, many academics and others have condemned President Truman’s decision to use the atomic bomb on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki as unnecessary and immoral. Yet this interpretation relies on a poor understanding of history that both lacks perspective and ignores context. Dropping the bomb shortened the war and saved countless lives — both American and Japanese. In five minutes, Professor of History at Notre Dame, Father Wilson Miscamble, explains.

The Hiroshima and Nagasaki film they didn’t want us to see from youtube.com
“Uploaded on Aug 6, 2011

The film Hiroshima-Nagasaki 1945 was created in 1968 from Japanese footage that the US Defense Department had kept hidden for over 20 years. The filmmaker Erik Barnouw offered his 16 minute film to all the US main channels. None of them showed it. Why is obvious when looking at this three minute excert.

The atom bombs dropped by the US on those Japenese cities served no military purpose, as the Japanese were already suing for peace. President Truman, who ordered the bombs to be dropped, lied to the American people when he said that the atom bombs had saved lives and there were few civilian deaths. Up to 200,000 were killed.

Seeing the barbarous effect of these weapons, did our political and military leaders decide to rid the world of them? Far from it. Today’s nuclear weapons make the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs look like water pistols in comparison, and there are enough of them to destroy not just cities but the whole world.

And who has most of these weapons of mass destruction? The only country to ever use them — the United States.”

“…Scholars now know that numerous factors contributed to Truman’s decision to destroy Hiroshima and Nagasaki and their civilian populations. These include Truman’s political calculations as he looked to the 1948 presidential election, vengeance, racism, institutional inertia, and the callousness that came with already having burned more than sixty Japanese cities to the ground.

But, as General Leslie Groves, the commander of the Manhattan Project, told senior scientist Joseph Rotblat, the bombs came to be designed for the Soviet Union. The determinative reasons for the A-bombings were to bring the war to an immediate end so that the US could avoid sharing influence with the USSR in Northern China, Manchuria and Korea and to intimidate Stalin and other Soviet leaders by demonstrating the apocalyptic power of nuclear weapons and Washington’s willingness to use them – even against civilians. Little Boy and Fat Man, as the bombs were named, announced the beginning of the Cold War….”

“After the American war of Independence (1776-1779), and an English challenge to that independence (1812-1814) no single nation has planned an offensive war against the USA. It is probable that a strong coalition of Anglo-French-led European nations planned to split the USA into two states through diplomatic recognition of the Confederate states possibly followed up by naval blockade embargoing the Union. At that time the British Empire was the strongest naval power, and the French the second strongest. The events led, however, into the Civil War (1860-1865) and due to the Russian intervention 1863 (1863) on the Union’s side, those European plans were quietly abandoned. ..

Korean War

Korean War – Facts & Summary – HISTORY.com, history.com
“..On June 25, 1950, the Korean War began when some 75,000 soldiers from the North Korean People’s Army poured across the 38th parallel, the boundary between the Soviet-backed Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to the north and the pro-Western Republic of Korea to the south. This invasion was the first military action of the Cold War. By July, American troops had entered the war on South Korea’s behalf. As far as American officials were concerned, it was a war against the forces of international communism itself. After some early back-and-forth across the 38th parallel, the fighting stalled and casualties mounted with nothing to show for them. Meanwhile, American officials worked anxiously to fashion some sort of armistice with the North Koreans. The alternative, they feared, would be a wider war with Russia and China–or even, as some warned, World War III. Finally, in July 1953, the Korean War came to an end. In all, some 5 million soldiers and civilians lost their lives during the war. ..”

Forget the Trumanite mythology

“…This is a fairytale: it wasn’t a victory, or even a tie: the US public was disenchanted with the war long before the armistice, and Truman was under considerable pressure at home to conclude an increasingly unpopular conflict. As for this guff about “democracy”: whatever the US was fighting for, from 1950, when the war broke out, to 1953, when it ground to a halt, democracy hardly described the American cause.

We were fighting on behalf of Syngman Rhee, the US-educated-and-sponsored dictator of South Korea, whose vibrancy was demonstrated by the large-scale slaughter of his leftist political opponents. For 22 years, Rhee’s word was law, and many thousands of his political opponents were murdered: tens of thousands were jailed or driven into exile. Whatever measure of liberality has reigned on the Korean peninsula was in spite of Washington’s efforts and ongoing military presence. When the country finally rebelled against Rhee, and threw him out in the so-called April Revolution of 1960, he was ferried to safety in a CIA helicopter as crowds converged on the presidential palace.

The Truth About Tonkin | U.S. Naval Institute usni.org

“Commander Pat Paterson, U.S.
Navy
Questions about the Gulf of Tonkin incidents have persisted for more than 40 years. But once-classified documents and tapes released in the past several years, combined with previously uncovered facts, make clear that high government officials distorted facts and deceived the American public about events that led to full U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War.

On 2 August 1964, North Vietnamese patrol torpedo boats attacked the USS Maddox (DD-731) while the destroyer was in international waters in the Gulf of Tonkin. There is no doubting that fact. But what happened in the Gulf during the late hours of 4 August—and the consequential actions taken by U.S. officials in Washington—has been seemingly cloaked in confusion and mystery ever since that night.

Nearly 200 documents the National Security Agency (NSA) declassified and released in 2005 and 2006, however, have helped shed light on what transpired in the Gulf of Tonkin on 4 August. The papers, more than 140 of them classified top secret, include phone transcripts, oral-history interviews, signals intelligence (SIGINT) messages, and chronologies of the Tonkin events developed by Department of Defense and NSA officials. Combined with recently declassified tapes of phone calls from White House officials involved with the events and previously uncovered facts about Tonkin, these documents provide compelling evidence about the subsequent decisions that led to the full commitment of U.S. armed forces to the Vietnam War.

Hidden History: The Anthrax False Flag That Started The Iraq War

“Published on Sep 29, 2012

Rest of the story here: http://blog.alexanderhiggins.com/2012…

On the anniversary of the Anthrax attacks used to justify the Iraq war are now known to have been an inside job and the corporate media blackout continues.

While it is now well known known that the intelligence used to justify invading Iraq was non-existent and fabricated and part of a plan to invade Iraq that existed before 9/11.

But an often overlooked part of the story is how the American public was terrorized by the US government using that intelligence.

While the corporate media has now all but censored revelations that the Anthrax that targeted opponents of the Patriot act and left 5 people dead and dozens more infect was in fact a weaponized version produced by the United States government.

The Bush Administration knew this and top officials were secretly taking CIPRO as the attacks were used to take the “random isolated” incident of 9/11 and deliver that fear into every single household in America by making them worry that Saddam Hussein and radical Muslim terrorist could attack them next while in their own homes.

While knowing the anthrax was produced in one of two high security U.S. bioweapons labs the Bush administration paraded around on TV repeated warning that they had “amassed intelligence” that the Anthrax was in fact produced by Saddam Hussein’s non-existent WMD facilities in Iraq.

Media outlets like ABC and the New York Times did their own “investigative” journalism to reinforce the lie and soon the horror of being attacked by Iraq’s WMDs had been burnt into the psyche of the masses.

Abby Martin, kicking ass on her new RT America show Breaking the Set, reminds us how the Anthrax attacks were an inside job pulled off by Bush administration which were then used to terrorize the public into supporting the Iraq war.

In her latest “Brainwash Update” segment she also discusses the censored history of the attack and points out the unanswered questions that the government refuses to answer.

10 most shocking facts we found in CIA torture report Published time: 12 Dec, 2014 16:54 Edited time: 14 Dec, 2014 13:12 rt.com
“..According to the Senate committee’s findings released on Tuesday, the “enhanced interrogation techniques,” or EITs, used against foreign prisoners within the walls of covert, overseas prisons ultimately prove to be largely ineffective. John Brennan, the current director of the CIA, challenged those claims with a lengthy rebuttal on Thursday.

Nevertheless, the executive summary made public this week after four years of research (and at a cost of some $40 million) continues to raise serious questions about the CIA’s use of torture in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks. Now, as the CIA, Senate, and seemingly everyone in Washington, DC debates the committee’s findings, below is but a mere sampling of some of the more shocking details described within the document…”

A Brief History of False Flag Terror

“In naval warfare, a “false flag” refers to an attack where a vessel flies a flag other than their true battle flag before engaging their enemy. It is a trick, designed to deceive the enemy about the true nature and origin of an attack.

In the democratic era, where governments require at least a plausible pretext before sending their nation to war, it has been adapted as a psychological warfare tactic to deceive a government’s own population into believing that an enemy nation has attacked them.

In the 1780s, Swedish King Gustav III was looking for a way to unite an increasingly divided nation and raise his own falling political fortunes. Deciding that a war with Russia would be a sufficient distraction but lacking the political authority to send the nation to war unilaterally, he arranged for the head tailor of the Swedish Opera House to sew some Russian military uniforms. Swedish troops were then dressed in the uniforms and sent to attack Sweden’s own Finnish border post along the Russian border. The citizens in Stockholm, believing it to be a genuine Russian attack, were suitably outraged, and the Swedish-Russian War of 1788-1790 began.

In 1931 the Japan was looking for a pretext to invade Manchuria. On September 18th of that year, a Lieutenant in the Imperial Japanese Army detonated a small amount of TNT along a Japanese-owned railway in the Manchurian city of Mukden. The act was blamed on Chinese dissidents and used to justify the occupation of Manchuria just six months later. When the deception was later exposed, Japan was diplomatically shunned and forced to withdraw from the League of Nations.

In 1939 Heinrich Himmler masterminded a plan to convince the public that Germany was the victim of Polish aggression in order to justify the invasion of Poland. It culminated in an attack on Sender Gleiwitz, a German radio station near the Polish border, by Polish prisoners who were dressed up in Polish military uniforms, shot dead, and left at the station. The Germans then broadcast an anti-German message in Polish from the station, pretended that it had come from a Polish military unit that had attacked Sender Gleiwitz, and presented the dead bodies as evidence of the attack. Hitler invaded Poland immediately thereafter, starting World War II.

In 1954 the Israelis hired a number of Egyptian Jews to plant bombs in American and British cinemas, libraries, and other civilian targets to be blamed on the Muslim Brotherhood or other malcontents. The plan, known as the Lavon Affair, was part of an effort to convince the British to retain their military presence in the occupied Suez Canal zone. Several bombings took place, but the British were ultimately forced out after Nasser nationalized the canal in 1956.

In 1962 the US Joint Chiefs of Staff authored a document called Operation Northwoods calling for the US government to stage a series of fake attacks, including the shooting down of military or civilian US aircraft, the destruction of a US ship, sniper attacks in Washington, and other atrocities, to blame on the Cubans as an excuse for launching an invasion. President Kennedy refused to sign off on the plan and was killed in Dallas the next year.

In August 1964 the USS Maddox, a US destroyer on patrol in the Gulf of Tonkin, believed it had come under attack from North Vietnamese Navy torpedo boats, engaging in evasive action and returning fire. The incident led to the Gulf of Tonkin resolution authorizing President Johnson to begin open warfare in Vietnam. It was later admitted that no attack had occurred, and in 2005 it was revealed that the NSA had manipulated their information to make it look like an attack had taken place.

In June 1967 the Israelis attacked the USS Liberty, a US Navy technical research ship, off the coast of Egypt. The ship was strafed relentlessly for hours in an apparent attempt to blame the attack on Egypt and draw the Americans into the Six Day War, but amazingly the crew managed to keep it afloat. In 2007 newly released NSA intercepts confirmed that the Israelis knew they were attacking an American ship, not an Egyptian ship as their cover story has maintained.

In the fall of 1999, a wave of bloody apartment bombings swept through Russian cities, killing 293 people and causing widespread panic. Although blamed on the Chechen terrorists that the Russians were fighting in the Second Chechen War, FSB agents were caught planting the exact same type of bombs as in the other blasts later that month. The government claimed that the bomb was part of a security exercise and Vladimir Putin came to power as the next Russian President on the back of the terror wave later that year.

In 2001, attacks in New York and Washington are blamed on Al Qaeda as a pretext for invading Afghanistan. In the months leading up to the event, American negotiators had warned Afghanistan’s Taliban that they were interested in securing right of way for proposed pipeline projects, and the US would achieve this with either a carpet of gold or a carpet of bombs. The Bush administration’s first major national security directive, NSPD-9, a full-scale battle plan for the invasion of Afghanistan, including command and control, air and ground forces, and logistics, was drafted and sitting on the President’s desk to be signed off on September 4, 2001, seven days before the 9/11 attacks. The invasion proceeded as planned in October.

These are but a few of the hundreds of such incidents that have been staged over the centuries to blame political enemies for attacks that they did not commit. The tactic remains in common use today, and will continue to be employed as long as populations still blindly believe whatever their governments tell them about the origins of spectacular terror incidents.”
