The movie started with a curious teen (Alex) that finds this video game console in the beach in the year of 1996 (note the “old school” video game console that looks like a “Super Nintendo”). Like all curious humans, we want to play with it (“curiosity kills the cat”).
Now, the future went forward to a group of teens that get into detention and they find that same “game console” at the school. ..
Sal: After the movie, my “bro’s family” and I were talking about this particular scene. I opened up to them that I’ve been to detention back in my high school days..once only! I explained to them that it was for a “little thing”. I was tardy to school 3x, so I had to serve detention after school one day. I didn’t share the rest of the story, but detention might vary from school to school. But, the detention at my high school was just like having an “open classroom”. We brought our homework to this classroom and just sat there quietly for a certain period of time (can’t remember how long 30 minutes-60 minutes??). This might not be too bad for some people, but it wasn’t good for after school athletes. I can’t remember if I was playing sports at the time, but I remembered I had to take the city bus back home after school . I didn’t want to call my parents to pick me up because I didn’t want to let them know I had to stay after school for detention..lol!
Another similar story was being suspended from school. This happened when I was in “middle school”. I was in 6th grade and had to go to the principal’s office before being sent home early in the school day. I won’t share “exactly” what I or my friend and I did, but it was pretty “serious” đŚ Anyways, let’s get back to the movie :)..
During detention, these teenagers find that same game console that cause the disappearance of Alex back in 1996 (20 years ago). These teenagers are about to get their “character” or behavior issues (e.g. selfish, stuck-up, etc..-typical “teenager” attitudes) change with this “jumanji experience”
Life can be like a “jungle” as we are surrounded by vicious “wild animals” (e.g. evil people). We can sometimes even act like “wild animals” ourselves in our “bad days” as were are just “human” (e.g. sinful nature-> Deep Thought: What âcausesâ us to do âbadâ (sin) stuff? goodnewseverybodycom.wordpress.com ). However, we need a Savior (call upon “Jesus”-just like how they had to call out “jumanji” at the end to finalize the game to win!).

I also reflected on the importance of individual’s gifts (e.g. talents, skills, spiritual -mentioned in 1 Corinthians 13 above, etc..) that God has given to each of us that we “need” to use and help each other. We can’t do this life on our own! We need each other!

Many don’t even know that 38 of the current 39 books of the Protestant Old Testament bible were found with the Dead Sea Scrolls in part or even some whole books. If you are like us, you may have heard from pulpit that the Dead Sea Scrolls contained Gnostic Gospels but not 1 Gnostic Gospel was actually found with the Dead Sea Scrolls. They were found in Egypt in an Essene community. Wait, aren’t many scholars telling us that these same Essenes kept the library at Qumran? They did not. However, even the historical reference they use is being misused and misinterpreted which we will show in the next video. In this video, we will prove using the Bible and old maps, that John the Baptist lived in and even baptized Jesus in modern Qumran. Watch our video and see if you agree. Many people have been told that December 25th is the birthday of Jesus Christ, but what does the Bible have to say on the matter? Is it truly the day Jesus was born? The short answer would be “no”. “
The Day of Atonement, Tishri 10, was a special Sabbath, and the holiest day in the Old Covenant Jewish calendar year. The only day of the year our Heavenly Father came down to be with man, in the Holy of Holies within the Temple at Jerusalem. On this day our Heavenly Father would annually forgive the sins of Israel, make Israel holy for one more year, as they awaited the promised Messiah, Jesus, to come and save them. The significance of this holy day alone, foreshadows that this day would be the Day when Jesus would be born, would come to take away our sins, and make believers spiritually holy forever. Was the Christmas âStarâ a Comet? Hale-Bopp Comet (1997)

Jesus’ Birth “..As presented in Humphreysâ article, Chinese astronomical records document the appearance of three (3) comets around the time of Jesusâ birth:
12 B.C.
Halleyâs Comet made an appearance on August 12, 12 B.C. and remained visible for 56 days. The sighting was recorded by Chinese astronomers in the Book of Han of the Han Dynasty: âLately, reproaches in the form of solar eclipses and meteors have been in the skyâŚ.Now a bushy star has been seen in Tung-chinâŚ.â
However, because the great majority of scholars maintain Jesus had to have been born between 7 B.C. and 2 B.C. (more>>), Humphreys concludes the 12 B.C. sighting of Halleyâs comet is too early to have been the Christmas âstarâ (aster).
5 B.C.
Historical records of the Chinese in 5 B.C. refer to the appearance of a ânew starâ in the Capricorn Constellation which was âsui-hsingâ meaning a âbroom star.âBecause the ânewâ starâ had a âbroom tailâ, most astronomers believe the sighting of that ânew starâ was, in fact, a sighting of a comet with a sweeping tail.
4 B.C.
Chinese astronomical records also reference a sighting of a ânew starâ in 4 B.C.
However, other than being a ânew starâ with a tail (and, therefore, most likely a comet), little information is known about the comet. Therefore, Humphreys maintains there is no way to know if that comet exhibited characteristics consistent with the description of the Christmas âstarâ (aster) in Matthew 2.
Additionally, because Humphreys believes there is strong evidence that Herod died in 4 B.C. such that Jesus would have been born in 5 B.C. â 6 B.C. (more>>), he eliminates the 4 B.C. comet from consideration.

Based on the above, Colin Humphreys proposes the 5 B.C. comet referenced in ancient astronomical records is a credible candidate for the Christmas âstarâ.

Many scholars believe the Magi were pseudo scientists (astronomers) from Babylon or Persia who may have been part of the legacy of Jews who were deported to Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar II (more>>). If so, the Magi may have been aware of Danielâs prophecy concerning the coming of a king of the Jews (see, Dan. 9:25); consequently, they may have been looking for a sign of the coming of a Jewish king around the time of Jesusâ birth…”

According to Matthew, they saw some astronomical event as a foretelling of Christ’s birth. There is debate among scholars as to the historical accuracy of event. Matthew is the only gospel that mentions the magi, and many scholars feel it’s a bit of pious allegory to show that the destiny of Jesus was written in the stars. But if we assume for the moment that Matthew’s account is accurate, it raises the question of what exactly the Star of Bethlehem could have been. ..
Another possibility is that the Star of Bethlehem was a comet. Bright comets do appear in the sky from time to time, and have been described as “hanging over” particular cities or lands, as the Star of Bethlehem is often represented. We know that Halley’s comet was visible in the region in 12 BC, and would have been bright enough to be described as a star. But the writers of Matthew would likely have known the difference between a comet and a star, and specifically noted the event as a star…”
A third possibility is that it could have been a nova or supernova. These appear in the sky as “new stars” and are sometimes brighter than even Venus or Jupiter in the night sky. This would match the Biblical description, and might have been interpreted as a good omen. Chinese and Korean astronomers noted the appearance of a nova in 5 BC, which would be around the right time frame, but this nova wasn’t noted by astronomers in other regions, so it likely wasn’t particularly bright. A truly bright nova or supernova, such as the one observed by Tycho Brahe in 1572, would have created a remnant that we could observe today, and there is no known remnant that can be dated to the time of Jesus. …

I just watched this movie this “morning”…yes, this morning! First time I can remember “ever” watching a movie in the morning! My friends and I drove 45+ minutes to a great “seat-reclining” theater (Alexandria, MN)..
When we got there (30 minutes prior to the showing and 15 minutes prior to it being opened), we were like one of the first ones to get there. Then a bunch of cars started coming. We decided to go fall in line 5 minutes prior to the time the doors will be opened. Later, we would be thankful that we did this as we got close to tickets being sold out for the 11:45am showing. We would’ve just had to wait another hour for the 2nd showing. However, being towards the end of tickets being nearly sold out, we had to pick seats up front in the very 1st row. Fortunately, the seats reclined, so we were able to lay our heads back and see much of the big screen a “little better”!

‘EDINA, Minn. – When she and 10 other Edina High School students sat during the playing of taps at a Veteran’s Day ceremony last month, junior Samira Kalmoi says she knew exactly what she was doing.
“Taps, national anthem, I don’t feel I should be standing for that, because I don’t believe in it,” said Kalmoi, the president of the school’s Black Student Union. “I don’t believe in it, because there is not freedom and justice for all.”
That protest led to verbal and written clashes between students, and last week a lawsuit filed by members of the Young Conservative Club, who claim the district shut down their group and violated their First Amendment rights.
Days later, the two sides still starkly disagree and say there is now added tension in the hallways of Edina High School.
“That was the problem with these students, is that they were attacking other students. And then they played that victim card so that it didn’t look as bad,” Kalmoi said.
“I think the easy way to get at this is to make it a racial thing, and it’s not. And it’s about respecting the rights of protesters and the right to disagree with those protesters,” said Geoff Spades, the father of the president of the school’s Young Conservative Club.
Spades says his son has been harassed every day since the lawsuit was filed.
“He gets threatened on social media, threatened he’s going to get jumped,” Spades said.
But Spades believes the problem at Edina High School goes beyond the Taps protest and how the school handled it. He believes teachers focus on politics from liberal viewpoints in just about every class.
“I’d like to think that if my son goes into a math class, he’s being taught math. And neither his politics nor the teacher’s politics really matter,” Spades said.
Meanwhile, Kalmoi believes families with those frustrations aren’t seeing the viewpoint of minority students.
“They’re blinded by their privilege. That’s what I would say,” Kalmoi said…”
