If you knew your life is coming to an end, what would you want to do in the remaining seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, etc..? Not many people have that opportunity to know the number of how much time they have. I had this thought-provoking question running around my mind the past week during a “freak” accident at work last Thursday, April 7th 2011. A client pointed out to me there was a lot of “sharpies” or lancets (short pointed needles people use to draw blood on their finger for diabetics) thrown in a recycling bin. I didn’t want any of the clients to get hurt, so I put on some latex gloves and hand picked each one by one. It was taking too long as this recycling barrel (4 feet tall and 2-3 feet wide) was half-way full and would take “forever” to sort through this. I decided to dump the barrel into a plastic garbage bag. As I was tipping the barrel, a lancet somehow made it’s way down and poked my right “middle-finger” through the plastic latex glove. I saw the blood gush out inside my latex-plastic covered hand. I immediately finished what I was doing and threw the garbage out in the dumpster, so no one else will get poked. I then washed my hand with water and soap, I took the Coke can where I was throwing the lancets and brought it with me to our staff’s nurse and got medical attention. When I went home, I didn’t realize how serious this was until I “googled” on my personal lab top computer. I immediately called the local hospital and was scheduled to get a blood test right away.

Through this whole time, lots of questions started to pop on my mind. I even still have them popping-up as I write this. However, my peace grew as I kept giving it to God. I then started to think about the movie “Bucket List“…
The Bucket List – Official Trailer

“Corporate billionaire Edward Cole and working class mechanic Carter Chambers are worlds apart. At a crossroads in their lives, they share a hospital room and discover they have two things in common: a desire to spend the time they have left doing everything they ever wanted to do before they kick the bucket and an unrealized need to come to terms with who they are. Together they embark on the road trip of a lifetime, becoming friends along the way and learning to live life to the fullest. Each adventure adds another check to their list, all done with insight and humor.
